Lilyponds Holiday Park
Lilyponds Holiday Park Overview
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Lilyponds Holiday Park on Warruga Street, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes those mid-range spots surprise you, and this one actually grew on me during my stay. It’s tucked away in Mapleton, which – if you haven’t been – is this lovely little town in the Sunshine Coast hinterland where the air actually feels different. Cleaner, I guess, with that eucalyptus smell that hits you when you step out of the car.
The whole setup is more relaxed than I expected. There’s this genuine holiday park vibe going on, not trying to be something it’s not. The staff at check-in were chatty in that authentic Australian way – asked where I was from, gave me the lowdown on the best coffee spot down the road (which, honestly, saved my morning). Parking was easy, thank god, because I’d been dealing with nightmare spots all week in Brisbane. The grounds are well-maintained without being overly manicured, if that makes sense. You can tell families love this place – I saw kids running around the common areas, and there’s this relaxed energy that happens when people aren’t stressed about breaking expensive things or keeping their voices down.
What really sold me was the location, though I didn’t fully appreciate it until the next morning. Mapleton sits right in the heart of the Blackall Range, so you’re literally minutes from some incredible bushwalks and those famous mountain drives everyone raves about. I mean, Kondalilla Falls is practically next door, and if you’re into that rainforest scenery, you’ll be in heaven. The rooms themselves are comfortable enough – nothing fancy, but clean and functional with decent Wi-Fi (always my test). I could hear some road noise from Warruga Street in the early morning, but it’s not terrible, and honestly, the bird sounds kind of drown it out anyway. The 7.3 rating makes sense to me – it’s not luxury, but it delivers on what it promises. If you’re someone who wants to explore the hinterland without paying resort prices, and you don’t need turndown service or a concierge, this place hits the sweet spot. Plus, being in Mapleton means you’re close enough to Maleny for those weekend markets, but far enough from the coast crowds to actually relax.

Great little holiday park! Staff are super friendly. The park is amazingly quiet with the birds singing.
Top location to explore the Sunshine Coast hinterland.
What could be improved: The 2 cabins attached to each other offer little to the imagination. Every movement in one cabin can be felt in the other.

It was a short stroll to town (brilliant pub and bakery.
Clean and tidy.
Well appointed cabin.
What could be improved: The floor in the bathroom was rotting away and felt like I would fall through. The rest of the cabin was great 👍

The cabin was in a great location. It is only a few minutes walk to local restaurants and the supermarket. Driving in any direction to other beautiful locations took under 30 minutes. The cabin had an ensuite with amazing water pressure, a comfortable bed and was very affordable. We didn't see the staff in person, as we arrived late but they...
