Discovery Parks – Burrill Lake, Ulladulla
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled into Discovery Parks at Burrill Lake, I wasn’t expecting much from a highway-side park. But you know what? This place actually surprised me in the best way. It’s right there on Princess Highway, which sounds like it’d be noisy, but once you’re settled in, the lake views completely steal your attention away from any road sounds. The whole setup feels more like a proper resort than your typical caravan park – they’ve really invested in making it feel upscale without losing that relaxed coastal vibe that makes Ulladulla so appealing.
What really won me over was how they’ve positioned everything to take advantage of Burrill Lake itself. I mean, you’re literally steps away from some of the calmest water on the south coast, and the kids were in heaven with the shallow areas perfect for mucking about. The facilities are genuinely impressive – the pool area doesn’t feel like an afterthought, and honestly, the camp kitchen was cleaner than my own kitchen at home (don’t tell my wife I said that). The cabins vary quite a bit depending on what you book, but even the standard ones have that fresh, well-maintained feel that’s getting harder to find at family parks these days. Staff actually seem to care about the place too, which shows – check-in was smooth, and when we had a minor issue with our cabin’s air con, someone was there within twenty minutes.
Here’s the thing about this spot that makes it work so well – you’re close enough to Ulladulla’s main drag to walk to decent coffee and fish and chips, but far enough from the tourist chaos to actually relax. Burrill Lake is one of those gems that locals have kept pretty quiet, and the park sits right in the sweet spot where you can kayak or fish without fighting crowds. The 8.7 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there – it’s not trying to be fancy, but everything just works properly. Morning walks around the lake are genuinely peaceful, parking’s never an issue (unlike in town), and you can actually hear yourself think. If you’re doing the Sydney to Melbourne coastal drive, it’s definitely worth planning a proper stop here rather than just pushing through to Batemans Bay like everyone else does.

We hired a cabin. The cabin had 3 bedrooms, bed were extremely comfortable. We had a washing machine and dryer as well they supplied all the shampoo conditioner body wash, detergent, bin liners, tea coffee. Soap power for the washing machine. They supplied everything. There was enough seating for six people. Dinning room table fitted 8 people. ...
