Launceston Holiday Park Legana
Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first pulled into Launceston Holiday Park Legana β it sits right there on the West Tamar Highway, which sounds like it might be noisy, but you know what? The traffic actually dies down pretty nicely in the evenings. The place has this laid-back holiday park vibe that immediately makes you slow down and remember you’re supposed to be relaxing. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward β none of that overly formal hotel reception drama, just friendly people who actually seemed to know the area well enough to give you real recommendations.
What I really appreciated about this spot is how it feels properly Tasmanian without trying too hard. You’re about fifteen minutes from Launceston proper, which means you can duck into town for dinner or supplies without feeling like you’re stuck in the middle of nowhere, but you’re also close enough to some genuinely beautiful parts of the Tamar Valley that most tourists completely miss. The facilities are exactly what you’d want from a solid 3-star holiday park β clean amenities, decent spacing between sites, and that kind of practical functionality that matters more than fancy finishes when you’re actually living somewhere for a few days. I mean, the cabins aren’t going to win any design awards, but they’re comfortable and well-maintained, and honestly, you’ll probably spend most of your time outside anyway.
The thing that struck me most was how the staff seemed to genuinely care about helping you make the most of being in this part of Tasmania. They’ll tell you about the better walking tracks around Legana (there’s one along the river that’s particularly nice in the late afternoon), or point you toward the local spots that actually serve decent coffee β which, let’s be honest, can be hit or miss in smaller Tasmanian towns. The holiday park gets busy during school holidays, obviously, but even then it maintains this relaxed atmosphere where kids can be kids without everyone getting stressed about it. Parking’s never an issue, there’s plenty of green space, and the whole place feels safe enough that you can wander around at night without thinking twice about it. For what you’re paying and where you are, it’s exactly the kind of place that makes a Tasmanian road trip work β comfortable, unpretentious, and perfectly positioned to explore a part of the island that deserves more attention than it gets.

The only thing we could fault was their was no screen door on the glass sliding door so we had to keep it closed to keep the flies out.

Nothing really. If you're after 5 star accommodation, this is not for you. If you're happy with simple and functional, and don't mind being 15 minutes out of Launceston, then this could be for you.
