Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Lapwing 26 at California Cliffs, I wasn’t expecting much. It’s one of those Parkdean holiday parks, you know? But this place actually surprised me in the best way possible. The caravan sits right on the clifftops overlooking the North Sea, and I mean *right* on the edge – you can hear the waves from inside, which is either incredibly soothing or slightly unnerving depending on your mood. The whole California Cliffs area has this retro seaside charm that somehow works, even if it’s not exactly California (though the sunsets can be pretty spectacular when the weather cooperates).

What really got me was how thoughtfully this particular unit is set up. Sleeps eight comfortably, which is rare – usually these places cram bunks everywhere and call it a day. But Lapwing 26 actually has proper sleeping arrangements that don’t feel like you’re camping indoors. The Wi-Fi works well enough for Netflix (tested it extensively during a rainy afternoon), and honestly, having the bed linen and towels sorted was such a relief. You know how it is when you’re traveling with a group – someone always forgets something essential. They’re genuinely pet-friendly too, not just tolerant, which made bringing our dog so much easier. There’s direct beach access from the park, and watching him discover the massive stretch of sand was worth the trip alone.

The location is what really sells it though – you’re technically in Great Yarmouth but far enough from the main tourist chaos to actually relax. The beach here is proper Norfolk coastline, all wild and windswept, nothing like those crowded resort strips. You can walk for miles without seeing anyone, or head into Yarmouth when you want fish and chips and arcade games. The park itself has enough amenities to keep everyone happy (the kids loved the pool), but it doesn’t feel overwhelming or commercialized. I mean, it’s still a holiday park so don’t expect boutique hotel vibes, but there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about the whole setup. The check-in was straightforward, parking’s right outside your door, and the neighbors were friendly without being intrusive. We ended up staying an extra night just because leaving felt premature – there’s something about falling asleep to the sound of the sea that makes regular life seem very far away.
