Lani’s Holiday Island
You know what caught me off guard about Lani’s Holiday Island? The name makes it sound way more tropical than it actually is – I mean, we’re talking about Forster here, not Fiji. But honestly, that’s part of its charm. This three-star spot sits right on The Lakes Way, which if you know the area, puts you smack in the middle of everything without the crazy tourist chaos you get closer to the main beach strips.
The place has this sort of relaxed, no-frills vibe that actually works in its favor. Sure, it’s not going to blow you away with fancy lobby marble or infinity pools, but the rooms are clean and comfortable, and – here’s the thing most people don’t mention – you can actually hear the water from some of the units. Not crashing waves (you’re on the lake side), but that gentle lapping sound that’s honestly better than any white noise machine. The parking situation is refreshingly straightforward too, which anyone who’s circled Forster during peak season will appreciate. I stayed there in February once and while other places were completely booked out and charging ridiculous rates, Lani’s kept things reasonable.
What I really like about the location is how it puts you within walking distance of both the lake activities and the ocean beaches, but you’re far enough from the main tourist strip that you’re not dealing with schoolies or crowds at all hours. The staff genuinely seems to know the area – they pointed me toward this little fish and chips place about ten minutes down the road that I never would’ve found otherwise, and it was honestly better than the flashy waterfront restaurants. The 7.4 rating feels about right; it’s not luxury, but it’s solid and reliable. If you’re the type who needs resort amenities and room service, this probably isn’t your spot. But if you want a clean, comfortable base for exploring the twin towns without paying resort prices, Lani’s delivers exactly what it promises – nothing more, nothing less, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

Friendly staff easy access to the Mall bus stop straight outside with a timetable on the pole. Cabin was neat and tidy for an older style set up. Had all the basics. What could be improved: Old Lino in the cabin rather disappointing. Had to sweep the floor but there was a broom in the closet. No top sheet would have preferred that than the heavy...

The facilities are good. After hours check in was easy. Cabin was clean and had cooking facilities. Close to everything.
Could be improved
The cabin was on the main thoroughfare into the park and the traffic was noisy going past at all hours.
