Lakesea Park

HOTEL OVERVIEW
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Lakesea Park on Durras Lake Road, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the best surprises come in unassuming packages. This little gem sits right where the lake meets the coast, and I mean literally – you’re about a two-minute walk from Durras Beach and even closer to the lake itself. The whole setup feels more like a well-kept secret than a typical hotel, which probably explains that solid 8.5 rating.
What really got me was how the staff actually seemed to know the area inside and out. The woman at check-in (I think her name was Sarah?) didn’t just hand me a generic tourist map – she marked up specific spots where the fishing’s good in the morning and mentioned that the little general store down the road closes early on Sundays. That’s the kind of local intel you can’t fake. The rooms themselves are clean and comfortable, nothing fancy but everything works properly. I appreciated that the air conditioning wasn’t one of those ancient units that sounds like a helicopter landing, and the beds are actually decent – firm enough that you won’t wake up feeling like you slept on a marshmallow.
Parking’s easy, which honestly matters more than people think when you’re hauling beach gear and esky around. The whole place has this relaxed, almost residential vibe that makes sense once you realize you’re staying in what feels like a proper coastal community rather than some tourist trap. Mornings are particularly nice – you can hear the kookaburras laughing and there’s usually a decent breeze coming off the water. I mean, it’s not going to win any design awards, but it’s got that authentic Australian coastal feel that a lot of the flashier places try to manufacture and just can’t pull off. If you’re looking for somewhere that’s actually convenient to both the beach and lake activities without paying resort prices, and you don’t need a concierge or room service, this place delivers exactly what it promises.

Clean, tidy, comfy rooms; very friendly and helpful staff. Loved the location near the beach and also the lake. My favourite thing is the friendly kangaroos living in the park!
Jenny from Australia (February 23, 2025)
Very tranquil and great access to water
What could be improved: Would be good to access the camp kitchen and bathroom.
Would be good to have a donations bin for things to borrow like oil and seasoning etc
Leonie from Australia (February 17, 2025)
The location of the park was amazing, the wildlife was amazing honestly will be coming back
Rebecca from Australia (January 5, 2025)
This park is so fantastic for kids and families especially. It's closed in/self-contained, so kids just ride around on their bikes through all the flat roads. There's a great park, the beach on one side, the lake on the other. We stayed in the lake view cabins which have their own bathrooms and kitchenettes (also air conditioning), but there's...
Terrey from Australia (October 7, 2024)
What could be improved: A tap to wash outside after being to the beach
Benn from Australia (February 22, 2024)
It’s a great location
What could be improved: Booked a room with a bathroom attached as per booking.com. I was told that the booking from Lakesea didn’t have an attached bathroom and would require an upgrade.
Melissa from Australia (February 19, 2024)
Location was great - could hear the ocean and walked a short track to the beach. Very close to Batemans Bay. Quiet location. Plenty to see and do and the accommodation was very spacious with all kitchen utensils supplied. Great little home away from home. What could be improved: I was surprised to learn that water came from a rainwater tank...
Kellie from Australia (October 3, 2023)
Perfect location, the beach was so close and the park was very quiet considering the amount of people.
What could be improved: I didn’t mind, but my two teenagers struggled with the lack of phone service
Allison from Australia (August 27, 2023)
How peaceful it was, listening to the birds and watching the kangaroos.
Greg from Australia (June 8, 2023)
Location to beach
What could be improved: Internet reception at end of park didnt exist
