Lake Hamilton Motor Village and Caravan Park

Lake Hamilton Motor Village and Caravan Park Overview
You know what surprised me about Lake Hamilton Motor Village? It’s actually got this really welcoming vibe that hits you right when you pull up on Ballarat Road. I mean, the name sounds pretty no-frills – motor village, caravan park – but honestly, this place punches way above what you’d expect from those terms. The whole setup sits in this lovely spot where you can actually see glimpses of Lake Hamilton through the trees, and there’s something refreshing about a place that doesn’t try to hide what it is while still doing everything really well.
The thing is, Hamilton’s one of those regional Victorian towns that people either drive straight through or discover by accident, but if you’re stopping here – maybe heading to the Grampians or exploring the volcanic lakes region – this place gets the balance right between proper facilities and that relaxed country feel. The cabins are honestly better maintained than some city hotels I’ve stayed in, and I love that they’ve got options for everyone without making it feel like some massive impersonal resort. You’ve got your caravan sites if that’s your thing, but the accommodation units are where they really shine. Clean, comfortable, and the kind of place where you can leave your car unlocked without thinking twice about it (though obviously, you know, use common sense).
What really sold me was the attention to little details – like, the shower pressure is actually decent, which anyone who’s stayed in country accommodation knows isn’t always a given. The grounds are well-kept without being obsessively manicured, and there’s enough space between sites that you’re not listening to your neighbor’s entire phone conversation. Staff seem to actually live in the area and can point you toward the good coffee in town or tell you which walking tracks around the lake are worth your time. Hamilton’s got this great location for day trips too – you’re close enough to Dunkeld and the southern Grampians, but also to some of those crater lakes that most tourists miss completely. Honestly, for the price point and the genuine hospitality, it’s the kind of place that makes you remember why sometimes the best travel experiences happen when you’re not trying so hard to find them.

It was a lovely park with all the amenities we needed. We used the kitchen oven to bake bread and the laundry. The oven held a good temperature and the bread came out perfectly. The laundry is clean and with enough machines. We brought our own $1 coins. The dryers are great. One dollar for 20 minutes is a good price. Our cabin was terrific. Easy...

Clean, modern, all bedding & towels supplied plus kettle/toaster, milk etc. Staff very helpful & friendly. Allowed us an early check-in which was very much appreciated.
What could be improved: The overall pricing is a little higher than expected, but we appreciate the extra effort that goes into making sure everything is well-maintained.
