Lagrange Vacances Les Mazets de Gaujac
Lagrange Vacances Les Mazets de Gaujac Overview
First Impressions
When I first pulled up to Lagrange Vacances Les Mazets de Gaujac, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from this three-star property tucked away in the Quartier Precabrian. But you know what? Sometimes the best discoveries are the ones that surprise you. The complex has this charming Provençal village feel — think traditional stone buildings with terracotta roofs scattered across landscaped grounds. There’s free parking right on site, which is actually a bigger deal than you might think when you’re exploring this part of southern France with a rental car.
Location & Setting
The thing about Gaujac is that it’s perfectly positioned for exploring the Languedoc region without dealing with tourist crowds. I mean, you’re about 20 minutes from Uzès — that gorgeous medieval town with the famous Saturday market — and roughly 45 minutes from both Nîmes and Avignon. The property sits in this peaceful spot where you can actually hear birds singing instead of traffic, which couples seem to absolutely love (and honestly, I get why the rating for romantic getaways is so high). The surrounding countryside is dotted with vineyards and olive groves, giving you that authentic French countryside experience.
The Accommodations
Each apartment here feels more like a little house than a hotel room — they’re designed as traditional mazets, which are basically small Provençal stone cottages. The kitchen setup is actually quite practical, with everything you need to prepare simple meals or store local market finds. I particularly appreciated having my own terrace space; there’s something really satisfying about having morning coffee outside while looking out over the gardens. The interiors aren’t fancy, but they’re comfortable and clean, with that rustic charm that works perfectly in this setting.
Amenities & Activities
The outdoor pool area becomes the heart of the property during warmer months — it’s where families gather in the afternoons and where you’ll likely end up chatting with other guests about day trip recommendations. There’s also a restaurant on-site, though I found myself drawn more to exploring the local dining scene in nearby villages. The property organizes some activities during peak season, but honestly, the real appeal here is using it as your base for exploring the region at your own pace.
Why Guests Love It
What really works about this place is how it strikes that balance between having your own space and being part of a community. Couples especially seem to appreciate the peaceful atmosphere — you can disappear into your own little cottage when you want privacy, but there are common areas when you’re feeling social. The location gets consistently high marks because you’re close enough to major attractions but far enough away to feel like you’ve escaped the typical tourist trail. It’s the kind of place where you might extend your stay just because you’re not ready to leave that slower pace behind.
