Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Ingenia Holidays Torquay on Geelong Road, it wasn’t exactly what I’d call a showstopper from the outside. It’s got that straightforward holiday park vibe, you know? But here’s the thing about this place that actually surprised me: it just works really well for what it is, and the location is pretty much spot-on if you’re serious about experiencing the Surf Coast properly.
You’re literally a few minutes’ drive from Surf City Plaza if you need groceries or forgot your zinc, and honestly, being on Geelong Road means you can zip down to Point Danger or head over to Bells Beach without dealing with the nightmare parking situation closer to town – especially during Easter when the Rip Curl Pro turns the main strip into absolute chaos. The cabins themselves are clean and functional (I mean, don’t expect marble countertops or anything), but they’ve got everything you actually need. The kitchenettes are decent enough that you can avoid paying $25 for fish and chips every night, though let’s be real, you probably will anyway because you’re on holiday. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night – you’d think being on a main road would mean constant traffic noise, but it’s actually pretty peaceful once the sun goes down.
The staff here seem to genuinely know the area, which is refreshing. When I asked about surf conditions, the guy at reception didn’t just point me toward the main beach – he actually mentioned that Winki Pop might be worth checking out if the swell was coming from the right direction. That’s the kind of local insight you don’t get at those massive chain places. The whole setup feels like it’s designed for people who want to spend their time exploring rather than lounging around the accommodation, and honestly, that’s perfect for Torquay. You’ve got the Great Ocean Road starting literally down the road, the surf beaches are all within easy reach, and if you want to do the tourist thing and hit up the Australian National Surfing Museum, it’s a quick trip into the center of town. Sure, it’s not fancy – we’re talking three stars here, not five – but sometimes you just need a comfortable base that doesn’t eat up half your travel budget. The fact that it’s consistently rated over 8 out of 10 tells you something about how well they deliver on what they promise, without any pretense about being something they’re not.

The space was perfect, location was great and the people were amazing. Our antenna stopped working in our room so they upgraded us to another room with no hesitation and gave us some gifts for our kids too which was so nice of them. Every day they also sent texts with fun activities for the kids! The staff were amazing and so sweet and kind and...

It was cosy, comfortable and convenient for one night. Bed was super comfy. Staff were happy to come out when I couldn't get the oven going, after hours. Place appeared safe and secure and clean. Facilities looked good. There appeared lots to do for children. What could be improved: Shower was very small with not a lot of water pressure. We...

Got a message 1 week before that the pool was being painting and would not be usable when I was there. The only reason I booked the stay in the first place was because of the pool. Since I only live 20 minutes away that's the amenity that we were looking forward to using.
