Ingenia Holidays Cairns Coconut
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much from a holiday park in Cairns – honestly thought it’d be one of those cramped caravan places with thin walls and screaming kids everywhere. But Ingenia Holidays Cairns Coconut on Anderson Road actually surprised me in the best way possible. The moment you pull up, there’s this relaxed tropical vibe that just hits different. The palm trees aren’t the fake-looking landscaped kind either – they’re proper coconut palms that make you feel like you’re somewhere genuinely tropical, not just another tourist trap.
The location is honestly perfect if you know Cairns at all. Anderson Road puts you close enough to the action without being stuck in the tourist chaos around the Esplanade. I mean, you’re still only about ten minutes from the lagoon and night markets, but you can actually sleep at night without hearing drunk backpackers stumbling around. The rooms – well, they call them cabins but they’re more like proper little houses – have this clean, beachy feel without being overdone. Air conditioning that actually works (crucial in Far North Queensland humidity, trust me), and the beds are surprisingly comfortable. I’ve stayed in five-star city hotels with worse mattresses, honestly.
What really sold me though was the pool area. It’s not huge, but it doesn’t need to be – there’s something about the way it’s tucked between the palm trees that makes it feel like your own private oasis. The water’s always clean, and there are enough loungers that you’re not fighting for a spot, even during school holidays when families descend on Cairns. The barbecue areas are well-maintained too, which matters more than you’d think. I’ve been to places where the grills are basically rust buckets, but here they’re actually clean and work properly. The staff seem to genuinely care about the place – they’re not just going through the motions like at some of the bigger resort chains. Check-in was smooth, and when our cabin’s hot water took a while to kick in the first morning, they sorted it out within an hour of us mentioning it. That 8.9 rating makes sense when you experience the whole package – it’s not trying to be something it’s not, but what it does, it does really well. Perfect for families who want space to spread out, couples looking for somewhere peaceful to base themselves while exploring the region, or honestly anyone who wants that tropical holiday feeling without paying resort prices.

Family friendly. Amazing pools and slides are fun. The children enjoy scooting around the pathways. We liked the giant chess board too. Also the villa was clean and comfortable. What could be improved: The toilet was separate from bathroom which was good but there was no sink to wash hands in the toilet area. This ment that you still had to use...

Everything you need is on site. If there is anything that you didn’t have there was a shopping centre 2 minutes down the road.
The activities on site were extremely well maintained.

Everything was amazing, didn't have to leave the resort for anything.

The pool food/drink shack opened to late every day. Opening at midday would have been better to enjoy it more. Especially being school holidays the pool was busy
