Heathergate Boutique Holiday Park
Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first pulled up to Heathergate – it’s tucked away in Lowgate, which is one of those places you’d never find unless someone told you about it specifically. The whole setup feels more like stumbling onto someone’s private countryside retreat than checking into a typical hotel, and I mean that in the best possible way. You’re about ten minutes outside Hexham proper, which actually works in your favor because you get all the Northumberland countryside charm without the tourist crowds that can swamp the town center during summer months.
What struck me immediately was how they’ve managed to keep that boutique feel without going overboard on the precious details – you know what I mean, where everything’s so curated it feels like you can’t touch anything. The rooms have this lived-in elegance that makes you want to actually unpack your suitcase instead of living out of it for three days. The morning light comes through these generous windows, and if you’re lucky enough to get one of the rooms facing the fields, well, you’ll understand why people rave about this place. There’s something about waking up to proper countryside quiet – no traffic hum, just birds and maybe the occasional sheep. I actually found myself sleeping better than I had in months, which never happens when I travel.
The staff here get it right in that understated way that’s becoming rare. They’re not hovering, but somehow they always seem to know when you need something. Parking’s straightforward – none of that cramped city hotel nonsense where you’re doing seventeen-point turns to squeeze into a space. Check-in was refreshingly simple, though I’d recommend calling ahead if you’re arriving outside normal hours since it’s not a massive operation with round-the-clock front desk staff. The whole place has this quality that makes you want to extend your stay, especially if you’re using it as a base for exploring Hadrian’s Wall or the surrounding countryside. It’s the sort of spot where you find yourself lingering over breakfast longer than planned, not because the service is slow, but because rushing feels wrong somehow. That 9.8 rating isn’t just numbers – it reflects how they’ve managed to create something genuinely special without trying too hard to impress you.

Really comfortable accommodation in a peaceful location. With the added benefit of the hot tub.The lodges are really spacious and well equipped with everything you could need. The new swimming pool, sauna, and steam room are a new addition to the existing gym for those that like to excersize. The resort is only 2 miles from the lovely market...
