Happy Days Holidays
First Impressions
When I first pulled into Happy Days Holidays, I’ll be honest — the name had me wondering if I was in for some cheesy holiday camp experience. But you know what? This four-star property in Flamborough completely surprised me. The setting along North Marine Road puts you right on the edge of some seriously dramatic Yorkshire coastline, and there’s something genuinely refreshing about a place that doesn’t take itself too seriously while still delivering proper comfort.
Location & Coastal Magic
The location here is actually spectacular — I mean, couples are rating it 9.6 for good reason. You’re perched right at Thornwick Bay, where the chalk cliffs meet the North Sea in this wild, windswept way that feels properly English. Flamborough Head lighthouse is just down the coast, and honestly, the walking here is some of the best I’ve found along this stretch. The coastal path runs right past the property, so you can literally step out and be hiking along clifftops within minutes. Free parking on-site is a blessing too — you don’t realize how much you need it until you’re trying to explore these coastal villages.
The Accommodation
My room had this comfortable, unfussy vibe that worked perfectly after long days exploring the coast. The furnishings aren’t trying to be boutique-fancy, but everything’s well-maintained and thoughtfully arranged. What I really appreciated was how they’ve managed to give most accommodations some kind of sea view — even if it’s just a glimpse through the dunes. The beds are properly comfortable (important when you’ve been tramping around clifftops all day), and the heating actually works well, which matters more than you’d think when those North Sea winds pick up.
Dining & Daily Rhythms
The on-site restaurant serves exactly what you want after a day by the sea — hearty, straightforward food that doesn’t mess about. I had some excellent fish and chips there, and their Sunday roast was genuinely good. Breakfast gets you sorted for the day without any fuss. What I liked was how the whole place has this relaxed rhythm to it — people come back from walks, settle in for dinner, maybe have a drink while watching the sunset. It’s that kind of easy holiday pace that’s harder to find than you’d expect.
Why Guests Love It
This place works because it gets the balance right between comfort and location without trying to be something it’s not. The 9.2 rating makes sense when you experience how genuinely peaceful it is here — you’re far enough from major towns to feel properly away from everything, but close enough to Bridlington (about 15 minutes) when you need supplies or a change of scene. The staff seem to actually live in the area and know their stuff about local walks and hidden spots along the coast. It’s the kind of place where you can spend days just walking, reading, and letting the sea air work its magic.

The chalet was beautifully set up with everything we could want. It was very attractive and very clean. The holiday park was also very pleasant. Not too big and with trees! Easy to find and instructions on how to enter the chalet were very clear. Lots of extra little touches such as foil and cling wrap in the kitchen, biscuits we could take on...
