It’s not huge, but it’s well-maintained and actually gets sun most of the day. The BBQ areas are solid too – they’ve got that communal holiday park feel where you end up chatting with other travelers about road conditions or where to see the best wildflowers. Staff here seem to genuinely know the area, which is refreshing. When I asked about tide times for fishing, the guy at reception didn’t just hand me a brochure – he told me exactly where the locals go and what bait works best. That kind of local knowledge is worth its weight in gold when you’re somewhere like Carnarvon, where the difference between a good day and a great day often comes down to timing and knowing the right spots. Sure, it’s not a five-star resort, but for a base to explore the Gascoyne region, it hits that sweet spot of comfortable, affordable, and genuinely helpful. Plus, the 8.3 rating makes sense once you’re here – it does exactly what it promises without any pretense.
