Castaways Moreton Island stands as a gateway to experiencing the natural wonders that make this location truly special. The resort’s strategic position in Bulwer, on the northwestern side of the island, offers guests convenient access to the island’s remarkable attractions, including the famous Tangalooma Wrecks, where fifteen vessels were deliberately sunk to create a breakwall and now form a captivating snorkeling and diving site teeming with marine life. From the comfort of this highly-rated resort, adventurers can easily explore the island’s massive sand dunes, perfect for exhilarating sandboarding experiences, or venture to the historic Cape Moreton Lighthouse, which offers panoramic views across the sparkling waters of the Pacific Ocean. The crystal-clear lagoons, diverse wildlife, and the opportunity to hand-feed wild dolphins make staying at Castaways an unforgettable Australian experience. The resort itself embraces its natural surroundings while providing guests with the amenities expected of a quality 4-star establishment. Accommodations at Castaways Moreton Island range from comfortable rooms to well-appointed beachfront units, many offering stunning views of the Coral Sea. The property’s thoughtful design incorporates elements that celebrate the island’s unique environment while ensuring guests enjoy modern comforts during their stay. With its 8.2 rating, the resort has clearly succeeded in creating an atmosphere that balances relaxation with adventure. Guests particularly appreciate the friendly staff who are knowledgeable about local attractions and eager to help arrange island activities, from whale-watching tours (seasonal) to guided nature walks through the island’s diverse ecosystems. As the sun sets over the mainland visible across the bay, visitors can unwind and reflect on their day’s explorations, perhaps while enjoying fresh seafood and tropical flavors at the resort’s dining facilities. For travelers seeking an authentic Australian coastal experience that combines natural beauty with comfortable accommodation, Castaways Moreton Island represents an excellent choice that consistently delivers memorable stays in one of Queensland’s most beautiful island destinations.

Breakfast and location was good

What could be improved: the spot light in the room kept coming on in the middle of the night

Clean , friendly

What could be improved: The families noise and banging on our walls as a game . The drunk parents never told them off. And were noisey and running a generator up to 11:30 pm . When the shop told us of their strict 9:00 pm no noose policy

The location was beautiful and quiet except for the lovely sounds of birds in the morning. The cabin was very cosy and the bathroom was better than we expected. The bed was very comfortable and large so my partner and I could spread out after a big day! We also had a fire pit which we roasted marshmallows, which we bought from the castaways shop as well as a bottle of bubbly for our anniversary which was responsibly priced. We enjoyed playing pool and walking around the neighbourhood and watching the sunset over the ocean.

What could be improved: The reception was pretty bad if you weren’t with Telstra, not that this issue is because of castaways but it was unexpected when it came to checking emails and bank transfers.

Great apartment near the beach. It is in need of some TLC. Great beach to watch the sunset.

Quite location and sitting on the beach watching the sun go down. The staff very friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. The close proximity to the shop and kiosk for great food was a bonus. Camp kitchen is excellent with your own fridge space. Quite location and sitting on the beach watching the sun go down.
The staff very friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them.
The close proximity to the shop and kiosk for great food was a bonus.
Camp kitchen is excellent with your own fridge space.

What could be improved: We went in the middle of summer for my husband's birthday and as their are no fans or aircon it was very hot in the glamp during the day but this was our fault for booking in the hot season.
But saying that there is lots of places around the accommodation to sit in a cooler area.

Really nice Rooms/Tents. They looked brandnew and had lots of space. Friendly people working - I would definitely come back.

What could be improved: My only negative point would be that the bunkbeds were too soft (large queen bed was super however).
