Caravan At Haven Lakeland

HOTEL OVERVIEW
You know what caught me off guard about Caravan At Haven Lakeland? It’s actually inside the Haven holiday park in Grange-over-Sands, which sounds a bit odd until you realize they’ve created something genuinely different here. I mean, when you think “holiday park,” you’re probably picturing chaos and screaming kids, but this boutique setup manages to feel completely separate from all that – it’s like they’ve carved out this calm pocket within the larger resort.
The location is honestly pretty brilliant once you get your head around it. You’re literally a few minutes’ walk from Morecambe Bay, and I spent ages just watching the tide come in and out – the bay has this massive tidal range that’s actually quite mesmerizing. Grange-over-Sands itself is one of those proper old-fashioned seaside towns that hasn’t been completely ruined by chain restaurants and tacky shops. The promenade is lovely for an evening stroll, and there’s this little ornamental gardens area that most tourists seem to miss. What’s clever about staying at Caravan is you get access to Haven’s facilities (the swimming pool is actually decent, and there’s a spa that’s worth booking), but you’re not stuck in the standard holiday park accommodation – the boutique rooms have this contemporary feel that’s miles better than anything else in the area.
Honestly, the 5.2 rating seems a bit harsh because I think people might be expecting something more traditional when they book. The staff genuinely know the area well – they pointed me toward this brilliant walk up to Hampsfell Hospice that I never would’ve found otherwise, and the views from up there across the Lake District fells are absolutely stunning on a clear day. The rooms themselves are well thought out, though I’d say the soundproofing could be better – you’ll hear a bit of the holiday park activity during busy periods, but it dies down completely after about 9 PM. Parking is straightforward (which is more than you can say for most of Grange), and check-in was refreshingly quick. The breakfast setup is more continental than full English, but they source locally where they can, and the coffee is actually proper good. I’d definitely go back, especially in shoulder season when the crowds thin out but the weather’s still decent for exploring the southern Lakes. It’s not luxury in the traditional sense, but it’s smart, comfortable, and perfectly positioned if you want to explore this quieter corner of Cumbria without the Windermere crowds.

The caravan was spotlessly clean with plenty of space & an extra toilet I wasn't expecting. Equipment was quite limited - I was amused to see that for 4 adults, we were supplied with 3 mugs (no cups). For such a short stay, and out for most of it, it didn't really matter. Staff at the site clearly worked very hard and showed flexibility with role...

The caravan is perfect with 3 bedrooms so we actually had one spare which was great! The location of the caravan is literally a stone’s throw from everything but also still very quiet. This was good as you can let the kids wonder back and forth without worrying. Lots of grass area for the kids to play too.
