Blue Lagoon Beach Resort

Blue Lagoon Beach Resort Overview
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Blue Lagoon Beach Resort on Bateau Bay Road, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes those mid-range spots surprise you, and this one definitely did. The building itself is nothing fancy, sort of that classic Australian coastal motel style, but it’s positioned perfectly right where The Entrance starts to feel less touristy and more like actual Central Coast living.
What really won me over was how the staff actually seemed to know the area – I mean really know it, not just the standard “beach is that way” directions. The guy at check-in told me exactly when to hit the pelican feeding (4pm, but get there by 3:30 if you want decent photos), and honestly, his restaurant recommendations were spot-on. The Cowrie Restaurant down the road? Perfect for when you’re tired of hotel breakfast. The whole vibe here is refreshingly unpretentious – you’ll see families who’ve been coming back for years, couples escaping Sydney for the weekend, and the occasional business traveler who clearly knows something the rest of us don’t.
Here’s the thing about the location that took me a day to fully appreciate: you’re literally a two-minute walk from both the beach and The Entrance channel, which means you get that proper coastal feel without being stuck in the main tourist strip with all the noise and overpriced fish and chips. I could hear the waves from my room (second floor, ocean-side – definitely worth requesting), but it wasn’t overwhelming. Parking is free and actually available, which anyone who’s tried to park around The Entrance on a summer weekend will tell you is basically a miracle. The rooms are clean and functional – nothing Instagram-worthy, but the air con works well, the shower has decent pressure, and there’s enough space to spread out your beach gear without tripping over everything. I did notice the walls are a bit thin, so if you’re a light sleeper, maybe pack earplugs, especially on Friday nights when people are in weekend mode. The pool area is small but gets great afternoon sun, and there’s this little barbecue setup that guests can use – saw a few families making good use of it around dinner time. What really sealed the deal for me was stumbling back after a long day exploring Norah Head lighthouse and finding the front desk guy still happy to chat about tomorrow’s weather and whether the surf would be any good. That 8.2 rating makes perfect sense – it’s not trying to be something it’s not, just doing the coastal motel thing really, really well.
Each resort village provides a unique blend of privacy and community, where guests enjoy villa-style accommodations while having access to shared amenities and social experiences.

Proximity to the beach with SLSC was a big plus. Comfortable and clean cabins. Although there were lots of cabins, noise was not an issue. Parking next to the cabin was handy.
Would stay again.
What could be improved: Although it is an excellent place to stay comfortably on the beach, the term 'resort' is a little misleading.

The location is amazing. The beach is a great family beach and the key feature. Great cafe across the road and the internal Kiosk is also good. The cabins were clean and the whole site had a friendly family vibe. What could be improved: Best to leave the doors open for the sea breeze to come in (with screens shut) as the A/C only cools the...

We stayed in the Studio Cabin, which are the older cabins at the south end of the beach. These are older cabins but are right on the beach. Also worth a mention is the local bowling club, the food is excellent

The cabin was super clean and well laid out. Amazing view right on the beach. Location is short drive to shopping center and a restaurants. Pool & Spa was very clean. Park well maintained.
What could be improved: Limited internet service. Smart TV options didn't connect.

Excellent Location and facilities. Pool and Spa were great.
What could be improved: Kids bedroom was too small with cramped beds. No fan and it had cockroaches and spiders. Impossible to sleep in there without a fan or AC.
One kid slept in our bedroom and another on sofa.
Must install a fan or AC.

Beachfront cabins were beachfront cabins was beautiful. Beautiful beach right Infront of cabin, cabins are small but great. Great location and great locals also
What could be improved: Cabins are great but if you can afford to get the beachfront3 bedroom villa/cabin more updated and more utilities inside. But cabins are great for the price
