BIG4 Park Beach Holiday Park
Honestly, when I first pulled up to BIG4 Park Beach Holiday Park on Ocean Parade, I wasn’t expecting much – the name screams “family caravan park” and, well, that’s exactly what it is. But you know what? Sometimes those assumptions are completely wrong. This place actually gets it right in ways that a lot of fancier resorts don’t.
The location is pretty brilliant, I mean, you’re literally across from Park Beach (hence the name), and if you’ve never been to this stretch of Coffs Harbour, it’s one of those spots where the beach isn’t packed with tourists because it’s just north of the main town center. You can hear the waves from most of the accommodation – not in an overwhelming way, just that constant gentle background sound that actually helps you sleep better. The facilities here surprised me too. Sure, it’s got all the standard holiday park stuff, but everything’s well-maintained and there’s this genuine family-friendly vibe without being chaotic. The pools are clean, the kids’ playground isn’t falling apart, and the camp kitchen areas are spotless (which honestly can’t be said for every place like this).
What really sold me on this place was the mix of accommodation options and how they’ve thought about different types of travelers. You’ve got everything from powered sites for caravans to these decent cabins that don’t feel like you’re camping in a shoebox. The staff actually know the area – when I asked about good coffee nearby, they pointed me toward this little place on Harbour Drive that locals go to, not just the obvious tourist spots. Parking’s never an issue, which sounds minor until you’ve stayed somewhere cramped where you’re doing three-point turns just to get out in the morning. The whole place feels spacious, probably because they haven’t tried to cram maximum beds into minimum space like some holiday parks do.
I stayed during school holidays (not by choice, just how the timing worked out), and while it was definitely busier, it never felt overwhelming or noisy after about 9 PM – they actually enforce quiet hours, which is refreshing. The beach access is the real winner though. You cross Ocean Parade and you’re on decent sand with waves that are good for swimming but not intimidating for kids. It’s about a 10-minute drive south if you want to hit the main Coffs Harbour attractions like the Big Banana or the jetty area, but honestly, having this quieter base to come back to was perfect. The 8.7 rating makes sense to me – it’s not luxury accommodation, but it delivers exactly what it promises without any nasty surprises. For families or anyone wanting a straightforward beach holiday without the resort price tag, this place actually works really well.
The best resort villages feature carefully designed properties that harmonize with their natural surroundings, offering guests authentic experiences combined with luxury amenities and exceptional hospitality.

We all had a ball. Kids and adults loved the water park style pool, jumping pillow, playground and games room. Also loved that it was only a short walk to the beach and we also walked to the markets. Went to the Big Banana and felt like we wasted our day, kids had way more to do and enjoy at the Big 4 anyways had had a blast during our stay...
