Brisbane Gateway Resort
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Brisbane Gateway Resort on School Road – it’s one of those spots that could easily fly under the radar if you’re not looking for it. But you know what? Sometimes the best finds are the ones tucked away in Rochedale, about 20 minutes south of Brisbane’s CBD. The property sits in this quiet residential pocket where you actually get some peace, but you’re still close enough to hit up the Gateway Motorway when you need to explore.
The moment you walk into the lobby, there’s this relaxed vibe that immediately tells you this isn’t trying to be some flashy city hotel. The staff genuinely seem to care – I mean, the front desk guy knew I was coming before I even finished saying my name, which is always a good sign. The rooms are what I’d call “properly comfortable” rather than fancy – everything works, the beds are actually decent (not those rock-hard hotel mattresses that leave you cranky), and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. The air conditioning runs quietly too, which matters more than you’d think when you’re trying to sleep off jet lag. One thing that caught me attention was how well-maintained everything felt. Sure, it’s not brand new, but someone clearly takes pride in keeping this place running smoothly.
What really sold me on this spot was the location, though most people probably don’t realize how strategic it is. You’re literally five minutes from the Gateway Shopping Centre if you need groceries or just want to grab a decent coffee (there’s a surprisingly good café near the Woolies). The Rochedale train station is close enough for an easy trip into the city, but far enough that you don’t hear the trains at night. And here’s something locals know – you’re perfectly positioned for day trips down the Gold Coast or up to the Sunshine Coast without dealing with Brisbane traffic. The parking situation is refreshingly stress-free too, which anyone who’s tried to park in the city will appreciate. I stayed during what the receptionist mentioned was their busy season, but the common areas never felt crowded, and the pool area – well, it’s nothing fancy but it’s clean and gets good afternoon sun. The whole place just has this unpretentious, functional charm that grows on you. It’s the kind of spot where you can actually relax instead of feeling like you need to dress up to walk through the lobby.
Premium village resorts combine the charm of traditional village life with modern luxury accommodations, creating unique destinations where travelers can immerse themselves in local culture and relaxation.

The pool was great. Nice kids playground & the whole property was clean & tidy.
The cabin was a good size for 5 .
Could be improved
Floor Covering around play area a bit ruff.
GPS doesn't sent to to the address but one end of the road has been cut off so you then have work out how to get around it.

Liked
Self contained cabin, could come and go as pleased without having to worry about being out for house keeping. Pool is a really good depth for non swimmers/small children as shallow end is 0.9m and is a fair distance
