BIG4 Moruya Heads Easts Dolphin Beach Holiday Park

BIG4 Moruya Heads Easts Dolphin Beach Holiday Park Overview
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to BIG4 Moruya Heads Easts Dolphin Beach Holiday Park on South Head Road, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the best discoveries are the ones that sneak up on you. This spot sits right where the Moruya River meets the ocean, and I mean literally – you can hear both the river lapping and the surf crashing depending on which way the wind’s blowing. The whole setup feels more like a proper beach community than your typical holiday park, with that relaxed Eurobodalla Coast vibe that locals are so protective of (and rightfully so).
What actually won me over was how the place just works for real families, not the Instagram version of family holidays. The cabins are scattered around with enough space that you’re not listening to your neighbor’s TV at night – trust me, I’m a light sleeper and this matters more than you’d think. The kids were obsessed with the playground area, which honestly kept them busy for hours while I could actually read a book nearby. And here’s something the booking sites don’t tell you – the beach access is incredible. You’re basically a two-minute walk from Dolphin Beach, but more importantly, you can walk along the river mouth at low tide and spot stingrays cruising around in the shallows. The local pelicans have figured out this is prime real estate too, so there’s always some decent wildlife watching happening without any effort on your part.
The facilities hit that sweet spot of being clean and functional without feeling sterile – the camp kitchen actually has decent equipment (I’m looking at you, other holiday parks with one working hotplate), and the staff genuinely seem to know the area. When I asked about fishing spots, the guy at reception didn’t just point to a brochure – he drew me a little map showing where the flathead hang out near the bridge. That 8.3 rating makes total sense because while it’s not fancy, everything just works properly. The only real downside is that it gets pretty busy during school holidays – I mean, proper busy where you need to book the BBQ area ahead of time. But honestly, if you can swing a visit during term time, you’ve got one of the best-positioned holiday parks on the south coast mostly to yourself, with Batemans Bay close enough for a decent coffee run and Narooma just down the road when you want to feel slightly more civilized.

Great pool for a caravan park, beautiful surroundings, great villa, good activites for big kids, games room table tennis was great. What could be improved: The oven door (in our poolside villa) door didnt close properly so should replace the hinges as everything else gets very hot ie knobs handle and the side of the cupboard is melting from the...

Across the road from the beach.
Stephany from Ethiopia (February 16, 2023)
Location, pool and spa.
What could be improved: Cabin comfortable, but for seniors a TV offering subtitles would be appreciated. I had trouble even with hearing aids. A clothes airer for each cabin desirable, for wet days and personal clothes washing. Bedroom needs reading lights.
Rod from Australia (February 9, 2023)
Good beachside location. Had all we needed. On-site bait sales were a bonus. Room was functional.
What could be improved: More onsite dinner options would be great. We enjoyed our stay.
