The place has this relaxed family resort vibe that honestly surprised me. Sure, it’s got that classic Australian holiday park feel (think powered sites mixed with proper accommodation), but they’ve really stepped up their game with the facilities. The pool area is where you’ll probably spend most of your downtime – it’s got that perfect spot where you can keep an eye on the kids while still feeling like you’re on vacation yourself. And here’s something the booking sites don’t tell you: the shower blocks are actually modern and clean, which… well, anyone who’s stayed at budget accommodation in tourist towns knows that’s not always a given.

What I really love about staying here is how it puts you right in the sweet spot for exploring the Whitsundays without the Airlie Beach price tag for everything. You’re literally a few minutes’ walk from the marina where all the day trips leave – those Whitehaven Beach tours, the snorkeling trips out to the reef, the sailing adventures that everyone comes here for. But you can also duck into town for dinner (try Fish D’vine if you haven’t already) or grab groceries at the Coles without it being a whole expedition. The resort runs a little shuttle service too, which is handy when you’ve had a big day out on the water and can’t be bothered with the walk back uphill.

Staff here seem to actually know the area, which makes a huge difference when you’re trying to figure out which tour operators are worth your money or whether the weather’s going to cooperate for that sailing trip you’ve been planning.
