Beechworth Holiday Park
Look, I’ll be straight with you about Beechworth Holiday Park – it’s one of those places that grows on you once you figure out what it’s actually about. When I first pulled into Stanley Road, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from a 3-star park, but there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about the whole setup that actually works in its favor.
The thing about staying here is you’re basically choosing to be part of Beechworth’s quieter rhythm rather than right in the thick of the historic town center. Stanley Road keeps you close enough to walk into town (maybe 10-15 minutes if you don’t mind the gentle uphill trek back), but far enough out that you’re not dealing with the weekend crowds that descend on Ned Kelly country. I mean, you can actually hear the kookaburras in the morning instead of tour buses – which, depending on your travel style, might be exactly what you’re after. The facilities are honestly pretty solid for what you’re paying. The cabins aren’t going to win any design awards, but they’re clean and functional, and the park itself has that well-maintained feel that tells you someone actually cares about the place. What I really appreciated was the practical stuff – decent hot water pressure (you’d be surprised how often that’s an issue at holiday parks), proper parking right outside your accommodation, and check-in that doesn’t involve standing around for twenty minutes while they explain seventeen different rules.
You know what really makes this place work though? It’s the location as a base for exploring the wider region. Beechworth’s got that whole historic gold rush thing going on, sure, but from Stanley Road you’re also perfectly positioned for day trips to the High Country if you’re into that, or even just wandering around the local wineries without feeling like you need to rush back to some expensive town center hotel. The park gets busy during school holidays and autumn when the leaves change – honestly, book ahead if you’re planning to visit then because half of Melbourne seems to have the same idea. But visit during a random Wednesday in winter? You’ll practically have the place to yourself, and there’s something quite nice about Beechworth when it’s not performing for tourists. The 7.4 rating feels about right to me – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it delivers on what it promises without any nasty surprises, and sometimes that’s exactly what you want from a holiday park.

Cabin was super cute! The bed was really comfy & it was great that it was fully self contained with a kettle, toaster and microwave - a coffee in bed each morning looking out into nature was luxury! The park itself had a very in nature feel - not at all commercialised - there was a cute little playground but none of the typical 'jumping pillow'...

Idylic setting. Quiet. Wonderful walks around the park and to the lake. Staff very helpful with everything. Very clean and comfortable. A little further out of town.
Could be improved
Not as convenient to the town for an older person. Hire of bikes would help younger people.

We enjoyed the natural scenery and surroundings. Very peaceful. We didn't realise until we arrived that our room wasn't right for us and without a fuss the wonderful manager, didn't hesitate and moved us to a more appropriate cabin, as we were travelling with a person with a disability. It is a great place to enjoy, unwind, and relax. The pool...

The cabin we had was very good tho the entry to the cabin was dusty. A cement area would have benefitted. The cabin was very clean with a pleasant outlook to the bush. What could be improved: Tho we had a small dog. We found the place very expensive for what it offered. The grounds whilst tidy were tired. The permanent vans and annexes were...

Bedside shelves where loose and falling apart and the bed rolling around. Shouldn’t be on castors.
