What I really appreciated was the practical stuff – decent hot water pressure (you’d be surprised how often that’s an issue at holiday parks), proper parking right outside your accommodation, and check-in that doesn’t involve standing around for twenty minutes while they explain seventeen different rules.

The park gets busy during school holidays and autumn when the leaves change – honestly, book ahead if you’re planning to visit then because half of Melbourne seems to have the same idea. But visit during a random Wednesday in winter? You’ll practically have the place to yourself, and there’s something quite nice about Beechworth when it’s not performing for tourists. The 7.4 rating feels about right to me – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it delivers on what it promises without any nasty surprises, and sometimes that’s exactly what you want from a holiday park.
