The kitchen’s got everything you actually need, not just the bare minimum, and the bedroom feels way more generous than you’d expect. What really got me though was stepping out onto that little deck area in the morning with coffee – you’re practically breathing in the sea air, and on clear days you can watch the fishing boats heading out from Blyth just up the coast. The whole place stays surprisingly quiet too, even though you’re right in the heart of things.

Here’s the thing about Newbiggin that makes this spot work so well – it’s not trying to be Whitby or Robin Hood’s Bay with all the tourist crowds. You’ve got the essentials within walking distance (there’s a decent chippy just down the road, and the local pub does solid food), but it still feels like you’ve discovered something a bit off the beaten path. The beach walks are honestly spectacular, especially if you head north toward Druridge Bay – I found myself doing that route most mornings. The 9.5 rating makes complete sense once you’re there; it’s not about fancy amenities or room service, it’s about someone creating a genuinely thoughtful experience in an unexpected format. Sure, it’s still a caravan at heart, so don’t expect hotel-style daily housekeeping, but that’s sort of the point – you get the independence of self-catering with all the comfort touches that make it feel special.
