Honestly, when I first pulled up to the Alba Queen on Erhan Demir Boulevard, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect – the rating sits at a solid 7.0, which in hotel terms usually means “pretty good but not perfect,” and you know what? That’s actually a fair assessment. The place has this sprawling, ambitious feel to it, like they really went all-out with the ultra all-inclusive concept, and mostly it works.
What struck me right away was how they’ve positioned themselves in Çolaklı – if you’re not familiar with this stretch of the Turkish Riviera, it’s sort of the sweet spot between Side’s ancient ruins and Manavgat’s river scenery. You’re literally a few minutes from those incredible Roman amphitheater ruins (seriously, don’t skip those), but you’re also far enough from the main Side crowds that the beach here feels more… I don’t know, authentic? Less like a tourist conveyor belt. The hotel sits pretty close to the water, and I mean close – you can hear the Mediterranean lapping at night if you get a sea-facing room, which is either incredibly relaxing or slightly annoying depending on how light a sleeper you are.
The ultra all-inclusive part is where they really shine, actually. I’ve stayed at plenty of these Turkish resort hotels, and Alba Queen does something interesting with their dining – instead of just the usual buffet madness, they’ve got these smaller specialty restaurants scattered around the property that feel more intimate. The Turkish breakfast spread alone could keep you busy for an hour (and probably add five pounds), but it’s the little touches that got me. Like, they actually stock decent coffee, not just that instant stuff that tastes like regret. The pools are well-maintained, though honestly, they get pretty packed during peak season – if you’re there in July or August, claim your spot early or you’ll be swimming with half of Germany. Parking was surprisingly hassle-free, which anyone who’s driven around Antalya province will appreciate, and check-in was smooth enough, though the staff’s English can be hit-or-miss depending on who you get.
Look, it’s not going to blow your mind – that 7.0 rating exists for a reason, and there are definitely some rough edges. The wifi can be spotty in some rooms, and the evening entertainment leans heavily into that slightly cheesy resort show territory. But here’s the thing: for families or couples who want that proper Turkish hospitality experience without breaking the bank, this place delivers on its promises. The location alone makes it worth considering – you’re perfectly positioned to explore Side’s historical sites during the day, then come back and actually relax by a pool that isn’t swarming with day-trippers. Plus, and this might sound silly, but there’s something satisfying about a hotel that knows exactly what it is and executes that vision well, even if it’s not trying to revolutionize luxury travel.
