HOTEL OVERVIEW

You know what’s funny about 8 Lakeview? The name makes it sound like some generic apartment complex, but honestly, this place is anything but ordinary. Tucked away in Pendle View Holiday Park just outside Clitheroe, it’s one of those boutique spots that doesn’t bother with official star ratings because – well, it doesn’t need them. That 9.7 rating isn’t an accident, I can tell you that much.

First time I pulled up, I’ll admit I was a bit confused by the holiday park setting. But here’s the thing about this part of Lancashire – some of the best-kept secrets are hiding in plain sight, and 8 Lakeview is definitely one of them. The location actually works brilliantly because you get proper tranquility (no traffic noise from the A59 that runs through town) while still being close enough to pop into Clitheroe for dinner or supplies. The views toward Pendle Hill are genuinely spectacular, especially in the morning when the mist rolls across the valley – Instagram doesn’t do it justice, trust me. What really sets this place apart is the attention to detail that you only get when someone actually cares about their property. The interiors feel carefully curated rather than ordered wholesale from some hotel supply catalog, and there’s this sense that every piece was chosen for a reason. I mean, you can tell the difference between places that are designed for photos versus ones that are designed for living, and this definitely falls into the latter category.

The practical stuff matters too – parking is never an issue (rare blessing in this part of the world), and despite being in a holiday park, it’s surprisingly quiet in the evenings. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward, none of that corporate hotel rigmarole. If you’re planning to explore the Ribble Valley or use it as a base for walking in the Forest of Bowland, the location is actually perfect. You’re about ten minutes from the center of Clitheroe, where you can stock up at the market or grab a proper meal, but far enough out that you feel like you’re properly in the countryside. The train line to Manchester runs through town too, so it’s not as remote as it might seem. Honestly, I think this is the kind of place that gets better the longer you stay – it’s got that lived-in comfort that makes you want to settle in with a book and just… exist for a while. In a world full of cookie-cutter accommodations, finding somewhere with genuine personality is becoming increasingly rare, and 8 Lakeview definitely has that in spades.

The location was beautiful, however the lodge is closer to the A59 and was very noisy if you're not used to being near a busy road.

The lodge was super clean and has everything you need.

The lodge is lovely, kitted out to a very high level. Excellent finishing touches like all the dog accessories in case you forget them. The site is super clean and it's beautiful to walk round.

Very clean and comfortable night stay. Has all amenities required for a caravan stay. This was a perfect location to attend a wedding at Clitheroe Golf Club.

Beautiful lodge in a stunning location. We had a wedding to attend nearby and chose to stay here rather than the hotel and we are so glad we did! Very spacious and clean and the scenery surrounding the property is beautiful. We will definitely be booking again in the future.

We loved the location ease of getting to our lodge when we arrived and the cleanliness. The interior design and space in our lodge were also a wonderful, a bonus which I don't usually go for was that there is a McDonalds within walking distance when we needed a hangover Big Mac!!! :) however if you book and want an even lovelier position book a lodge next to the lake, we had one a little further back as we didn't realise the position would make a difference as it was just somewhere to stay for a family wedding nearby, but when we got there we wished we had booked one next to the lake as they look just lovely! The space outside is lovely also just a little decked veranda with comfy seating looking out onto the lake, fenced in with a gate so perfect for young children and dogs as they can wander in and out safely if you want the door open. The location is also just beautiful in the middle of the countryside with that beautiful northern scenery. Just one thing, I had to steal a single quilt from the spare room as the double quilt wasn't big enough however that is mainly because my partner is a bed hog! Great communication regarding how to get into the park and lodge before hand also. It was also really nice not seeing any staff, not having to deal with admin or reception on arrival, just having the instructions to check ourselves in and out. All in all absolutely great stay!
