World Golf Village Renaissance St. Augustine Resort

World Golf Village Renaissance St. Augustine Resort Overview
You know what caught me off guard about the World Golf Village Renaissance St. Augustine Resort? It’s this sprawling four-star property that actually feels like it belongs in the heart of golf country — which, honestly, it does. The moment you pull up Legacy Trail, you can see the championship courses stretching out in every direction, and there’s something pretty satisfying about staying right in the middle of it all.
The rooms here have this clean, contemporary vibe that Renaissance does well, but with subtle nods to the area’s Spanish colonial heritage. I mean, you’re not going to mistake this for some historic inn in downtown St. Augustine, but the design feels appropriate for where you are. The beds are genuinely comfortable — that’s always my first test — and the bathrooms are spacious enough that you’re not bumping elbows while getting ready.
What really works about this place is how it embraces its golf resort identity without being pretentious about it. The hotel restaurant serves solid American fare that hits the spot after a day on the courses, and the staff actually knows the ins and outs of the World Golf Hall of Fame next door. You’ll find plenty of fellow golf enthusiasts in the lobby, sharing stories about their rounds or planning tomorrow’s tee times.
The spa services here are more focused than elaborate — perfect for working out those golf muscles or just unwinding after exploring historic St. Augustine. They offer treatments that make sense for active travelers, not just the usual resort menu. The fitness center is well-equipped too, which I appreciated since vacation eating tends to catch up with me.
Speaking of St. Augustine, you’re positioned really well here for day trips into the historic district. It’s about a 20-minute drive to the old city, which means you get the best of both worlds — the peaceful golf resort atmosphere and easy access to all those centuries-old streets and attractions. The Castillo de San Marcos, the old prison tours, those horse-drawn carriage rides through the narrow streets — it’s all totally doable from this base.
The resort grounds themselves are pretty impressive, spread out across manicured landscapes that flow seamlessly into the golf courses. There’s enough space that it never feels crowded, even when they’re hosting tournaments or events. The pool area is a nice spot to spend an afternoon, especially if you’re taking a break from golf or sightseeing.
Parking is straightforward and free, which honestly shouldn’t be noteworthy but somehow is these days. You’ll need a car here anyway — this isn’t a walk-everywhere kind of location, but that’s sort of the point. You’re here for the golf resort experience and the flexibility to explore the broader St. Augustine area on your own schedule.
The World Golf Hall of Fame being right next door is actually pretty cool, even if you’re not a die-hard golf fan. It’s one of those attractions that’s better than you’d expect, with interactive exhibits and genuine artifacts from golf history. Plus, having that connection gives the resort this authentic sports heritage feel that you don’t get at generic properties.
Service throughout the resort strikes that sweet spot between attentive and not overbearing. The staff clearly knows their clientele — mostly golf-focused travelers who want things to run smoothly without a lot of fuss. They’re knowledgeable about local courses, restaurant recommendations in St. Augustine, and all the practical stuff that makes a difference when you’re trying to make the most of your time.
What I found refreshing is how this place doesn’t try to be everything to everyone. It knows it’s a golf resort in a historic Florida city, and it leans into that identity confidently. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, with that easy camaraderie you find among people who share similar interests — whether that’s golf, history, or just getting away from everyday routines.
If you’re planning a golf-focused trip to northeast Florida, or you want a comfortable base for exploring St. Augustine without staying in the thick of the tourist crowds, this Renaissance property delivers exactly what it promises. It’s got the amenities and comfort level you’d expect from a well-run four-star resort, plus that authentic connection to the area’s golf culture that makes it feel like more than just another hotel stay.

We didn't get a breakfast voucher with the room we rented, but did go down to the restaurant and partake in their buffet style breakfast. It was complete with fruit, scrambled eggs, pancakes, bagels, yogurt, bacon, cold cuts and cheese, cereal, oatmeal ~ the works! Everything was fresh and delicious. It was $22 for an adult and $11 for children. ...

What could be improved: The access for food was not adequate. People were looking to get something to eat, and everything was closed in the middle of the day. Other hotels I've stayed in always had coffee available in the lobby. This hotel does not offer any. The gift shop sells coffee but has unreliable hours. Early risers would like a coffee at...
