I mean, they’ve got decent coffee (which is rarer than you’d think around here), and the bathroom actually has water pressure that works.

What really sets this place apart is how it sits in relation to everything you’d actually want to do in Whitstable. You’re literally a ten-minute walk from the beach – not the touristy bit everyone photographs, but the quieter stretch where locals go. The famous oyster shacks are close enough that you can smell the sea air from your window, but you’re far enough back that you don’t get the weekend crowds stumbling past at closing time. Alberta Holiday Park itself is surprisingly well-maintained – the owners seem to know their stuff, and honestly, it feels safer and cleaner than some of the boutique hotels charging twice as much in Canterbury. There’s decent parking (which anyone who’s tried to park in Whitstable proper during summer will appreciate), and you’re right by the bus route if you want to explore further along the coast without dealing with the A299 traffic.

The whole experience just works better than it should on paper. Check-in was straightforward – none of that awkward “where exactly do I go” confusion you sometimes get with unique properties. The place stays surprisingly quiet even when the holiday park is busy, probably because it’s positioned away from the main thoroughfares where kids are cycling about. I’ll be honest, it’s not massive – you’re not getting a sprawling suite here – but everything you need is there and actually functions properly. The heating works, the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every five minutes, and you can make a proper cup of tea without hunting around for a kettle that’s seen better days. For what you pay, especially considering you’re getting boutique-level comfort this close to one of Kent’s most popular seaside spots, it’s genuinely good value. Plus, the owners clearly know Whitstable well – they’ll point you toward the better pubs and away from the tourist traps without you even asking.
