Despite the name suggesting a typical caravan site, this place has quietly evolved into something much more interesting – and honestly, I think they’re underselling themselves. Located on Gwallon Lane just outside Marazion, it’s tucked away enough that you feel like you’ve discovered something locals have been keeping to themselves, but close enough to St. Michael’s Mount that you can practically wave at the castle from certain spots.

The accommodation options here are genuinely unique – I mean, where else can you choose between a converted railway carriage that actually feels cozy rather than cramped, or glamping pods that don’t make you feel like you’re roughing it? The owners have clearly put thought into making each unit feel distinct rather than cookie-cutter identical. What really impressed me was the attention to detail… proper blackout curtains (thank god, because Cornish summer mornings start early), decent shower pressure, and – this might sound small but it matters – hooks and surfaces where you actually want to put your stuff. The railway carriage I stayed in had this lovely little wood-burning stove that made rainy evenings feel properly atmospheric rather than dreary.

Parking’s straightforward, which anyone who’s tried to navigate Marazion’s narrow streets during peak season will appreciate. You’re literally a ten-minute walk to the causeway to St. Michael’s Mount when the tide’s right, and honestly, watching the tide come in and cut off the mount from your morning coffee spot never gets old. The local bus stops right at the end of Gwallon Lane if you want to explore Penzance or head further west without dealing with summer traffic – and trust me, you don’t want to drive through Marazion on a sunny Saturday in July. What I found refreshing was how quiet it stays in the evenings; families with kids tend to settle down early, so you get that perfect Cornwall soundtrack of seabirds and waves rather than late-night revelry. The site feels more like a collection of hideaways than a traditional holiday park, which explains that impressive 9.2 rating. It’s the kind of place where you arrive planning to explore every corner of Cornwall and end up spending half your time just enjoying being there – which, honestly, might be the best recommendation I can give any accommodation.
