HOTEL OVERVIEW
Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of all-inclusive places along Turkey’s Mediterranean coast, but VONRESORT Elite & Aqua actually gets it right in ways that surprised me. The moment you pull up to this place in Çolakli – and honestly, the drive from Antalya airport takes about an hour, so don’t expect a quick hop – you realize they’ve built something pretty impressive here. The lobby’s got this soaring ceiling thing going on, and there’s this immediate sense that they’re not trying to cram 800 rooms into a tiny footprint like some of the places closer to Side’s ancient ruins.
The aqua park is genuinely massive, which makes sense given the “aqua” part of their name, but what I didn’t expect was how well they’ve managed the crowds. I mean, you’re still dealing with peak summer chaos if you visit in July or August, but the pool areas are spread out enough that you can actually find a quiet spot if you venture beyond the main action. The kids’ area is properly separated too – thank god – so you’re not dodging screaming toddlers while trying to relax with a beer. Speaking of which, the bar staff actually know how to make a decent cocktail, which isn’t always a given at Turkish all-inclusives. The food situation is where they really shine though. Sure, there’s the usual buffet spread, but the à la carte restaurants don’t feel like an afterthought. That Italian place overlooking the pool? I went back three times, and the pasta was consistently good – not just “good for a resort” but actually good.
What really sold me on this place was the location itself. Çolakli is far enough from the tourist madness of central Side that you feel like you’re in actual Turkey, not some isolated resort bubble. You can walk to the beach – it’s their own stretch, not shared with half the coast – and the sand is that perfect Mediterranean golden color. The water gets deep pretty quickly, which is great for swimming but maybe not ideal if you’ve got very young kids. The evening entertainment doesn’t assault your eardrums either, which seems to be a lost art at most places these days. They’ve got live music that’s actually pleasant background noise rather than a Vegas-style production. Check-in was smooth, rooms are spacious with decent air conditioning (crucial in summer), and honestly, the 8.7 rating makes sense. It’s not perfect – the Wi-Fi can be spotty in some areas, and like everywhere in Turkey, you’ll pay extra for premium drinks – but it delivers on the ultra all-inclusive promise without feeling like you’re trapped in a tourist factory.
