Verde Valley Canyon View Cottage 6
First Impressions
When I first pulled up to Verde Valley Canyon View Cottage 6, honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from the name — it sounds a bit generic, you know? But then you actually see the place, and it hits you. This four-star cottage sits right on the edge of Verde Valley with these sweeping canyon views that just go on forever. The parking is right there on-site, which is surprisingly nice when you’re hauling luggage and groceries for a longer stay. The moment you arrive, you understand why guests consistently rate this property so highly.
Location & Setting
The location in Cottonwood is actually perfect if you want to explore Arizona’s red rock country without dealing with Sedona’s crowds and prices. You’re about 20 minutes from Sedona’s main attractions, but you get this peaceful, almost remote feeling here. The cottage is part of a larger property on East Thousand Trails Road, and I mean, the name says it all — there are hiking trails everywhere. What really got me was how quiet it gets at night, just the sound of wind through the canyon. The surrounding landscape offers endless opportunities for outdoor exploration and adventure.
The Cottage Experience
Inside, the room setup is more spacious than I expected — it’s got that cozy cabin feel but with modern touches that actually work. The kitchen is fully equipped, which saved me a ton of money since eating out in tourist areas gets expensive fast. But honestly, the real star is that canyon view from the main window. I found myself just sitting there with my coffee in the morning, watching the light change on the rock formations. Every detail has been thoughtfully designed for comfort and relaxation.
What Makes It Special
You know what surprised me most? How well this place works for couples — and apparently I’m not alone since other guests have rated it really highly for romantic getaways. There’s something about being tucked away in the canyon that makes it feel like your own private retreat. The sunsets are incredible from here, and if you’re into stargazing, well, the light pollution is basically zero. I also appreciated that they’ve managed to keep the natural desert landscape intact around the cottage instead of trying to create some artificial resort vibe. This commitment to preserving the natural environment sets it apart.
Why Guests Love It
The 9.1 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed here — it’s one of those places that delivers exactly what it promises without any pretense. Recent guests have been rating the location a 9.5, and I get it completely. You’re close enough to civilization when you need supplies or want to explore, but far enough out that you feel like you’ve actually escaped. The combination of comfort, privacy, and those canyon views creates this perfect balance that’s hard to find in Arizona’s more touristy spots. Whether you’re seeking a peaceful retreat or an adventure base, this cottage exceeds expectations.
Premium village resorts combine the charm of traditional village life with modern luxury accommodations, creating unique destinations where travelers can immerse themselves in local culture and relaxation.

I did not realize was a part of Thousand Trails camp ground, there were a lot of amenities available. Proximity to river is great.

The cabin was well furnished and well kept. The beds were comfortable. The view was perfect. We liked the porch with camp chairs and the paved patio with picnic table/firepit.
