Vacancéole – Résidence Le Birdie
Vacancéole – Résidence Le Birdie Overview
First Impressions
When I first pulled up to Vacancéole – Résidence Le Birdie, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from a three-star property tucked away in the French Alps. But you know what? Sometimes the best discoveries come when your expectations are modest. This residence sits quietly in Giez, and there’s something immediately calming about the way it blends into the surrounding landscape — no flashy signage or overwhelming grandeur, just a solid mountain retreat that feels like it belongs here.
Location & Setting
The location is actually the star of the show here, and I can see why couples rate it so highly. You’re positioned perfectly between Lake Annecy and the ski slopes, which means you get the best of both worlds depending on the season. What I really appreciated was how peaceful it feels — you’re away from the tourist crowds but still close enough to reach Annecy’s charming old town in about fifteen minutes by car. The free parking on site is a genuine blessing too, especially if you’ve ever tried finding a spot near the lake during summer.
The Accommodation
Each apartment comes with its own kitchen, which honestly makes such a difference when you’re staying for more than a night or two. I mean, being able to grab fresh bread from the local boulangerie and make your own coffee in the morning — that’s half the charm of staying somewhere like this. The room layouts are practical rather than fancy, but everything you need is there, and the mountain views from most units really do make you pause and appreciate where you are.
Dining & Amenities
The buffet breakfast is straightforward but satisfying — think fresh pastries, local cheeses, and strong coffee to fuel your day. It’s not going to win any awards, but it gets the job done, and honestly, when you’re planning to spend most of your time exploring the area, that’s perfectly fine. The spa facilities are modest but welcome after a day of hiking or skiing, and there’s something to be said for unwinding in a smaller, less crowded space rather than fighting for poolside chairs at a massive resort.
Why Guests Love It
What really works about Le Birdie is that it doesn’t try to be something it’s not. You’re getting solid, comfortable accommodation in a genuinely beautiful part of France, with the freedom that comes from having your own space and kitchen. The staff knows the area well and can point you toward the best hiking trails or the quietest spots along the lake. It’s the kind of place where you can actually relax and settle into the rhythm of mountain life, rather than feeling like you’re just passing through. For couples especially, there’s something romantic about having your own little Alpine hideaway — even if it’s not the fanciest place you’ll ever stay.
Experience exceptional vacation village resorts that feature spacious villas, recreational facilities, and personalized services designed to create memorable family holidays and romantic getaways.

1. The gradual improvement of the staff services. It was quite hard before and at our arrival, but it became very good towards the end of our stay. We would like to compliment especially Ms. Korally for her most freindly and helpful service.
2. The isolated location in the nature.
3. The swimming pools and the game room.
4. The fresh air!

Good location not far from Lac d'Annecy, but much quieter than the lake area. Comfortable sofa bed. Nice balcony for eating/relaxing. No Aircon but the design kept the room reasonably cool.

The guy at the checkin counter was really lovely. He opened up the breakfast room for me after it had already closed and let me sit there for over an hour while I waited for the rest of the group to get back. Nice little apartment and very relaxing surroundings.
