Vacancéole – Résidence Le Birdie

Vacancéole – Résidence Le Birdie Overview
Look, I’ll be honest with you – Vacancéole’s Le Birdie isn’t going to blow you away at first glance, but there’s something genuinely charming about this place once you settle in. It sits right on Chemin des Coves in Giez, which is basically this quiet little corner between Annecy and Albertville that most tourists completely miss. And honestly? That’s kind of the point.
The building itself has that typical French residence style – you know, those apartment-hotel hybrids that are super practical but not exactly Instagram-worthy. But here’s what I actually loved about it: you get real space to spread out, which is rare in this part of the Alps. The kitchenettes are properly equipped (not just a mini-fridge and a prayer), and the balconies – well, if you snag one of the upper floors facing southeast, you’ll catch glimpses of the lake through the trees. The golf course is literally right there, hence the “Birdie” name, and even if you don’t play, it means the whole area stays pretty peaceful and green. Check-in was straightforward, though the reception isn’t staffed 24/7, so don’t roll up at midnight expecting a warm welcome.
What really works here is the location – and I mean the actual practical location, not just “convenient to everything” nonsense. You’re maybe ten minutes from Annecy by car, but you’re paying about half what you’d spend staying in the old town. There’s decent parking (which, trust me, is worth its weight in gold during summer), and the little grocery store in Giez village has surprisingly good local cheeses and wine. The hiking trails around Semnoz are right there too, if you’re into that. Sure, the 7.2 rating tells you it’s not luxury – the Wi-Fi can be spotty, and don’t expect daily housekeeping – but for families or couples who want a proper base without tourist crowds breathing down their necks, it actually delivers. I mean, you can walk to the lake at Duingt in about fifteen minutes, and that stretch is absolutely gorgeous without the Annecy madness. Just pack some patience for the occasional quirks that come with older French residence buildings, and you’ll probably end up charmed despite yourself.
Experience exceptional vacation village resorts that feature spacious villas, recreational facilities, and personalized services designed to create memorable family holidays and romantic getaways.

1. The gradual improvement of the staff services. It was quite hard before and at our arrival, but it became very good towards the end of our stay. We would like to compliment especially Ms. Korally for her most freindly and helpful service.
2. The isolated location in the nature.
3. The swimming pools and the game room.
4. The fresh air!

Good location not far from Lac d'Annecy, but much quieter than the lake area. Comfortable sofa bed. Nice balcony for eating/relaxing. No Aircon but the design kept the room reasonably cool.

The guy at the checkin counter was really lovely. He opened up the breakfast room for me after it had already closed and let me sit there for over an hour while I waited for the rest of the group to get back. Nice little apartment and very relaxing surroundings.
