Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of beachfront hotels in Turkey, and the Trendy Aspendos honestly surprised me in the best way. It’s tucked right in Gündoğdu, which — if you know Side at all — puts you in this sweet spot where you’re close enough to the ancient ruins to walk there after breakfast, but far enough from the main tourist chaos that you can actually hear the waves at night. The hotel sits on Barbaros street, and I mean, you’re literally steps from the beach here. Not that “five-minute walk” nonsense some places claim.

What really got me was how they’ve managed to feel upscale without being stuffy about it. The lobby has this modern Mediterranean vibe that actually works — lots of clean lines mixed with local touches that don’t feel forced. Check-in was smooth, though I’d recommend arriving after 3 PM because they seem to get slammed during the changeover rush (learned that the hard way on my first visit). The rooms themselves are spacious, and honestly, the sea-view ones are worth the upgrade if you can swing it. You wake up to this incredible stretch of coastline, and the sound of the waves is better than any white noise machine. The AC actually works properly too, which… well, anyone who’s spent a summer in Antalya knows that’s not always a given.

The beach situation is where this place really shines. It’s not one of those tiny strips where you’re fighting for a spot — there’s actual space to breathe. The water here stays pretty calm most of the time, perfect if you’ve got kids or just want to float around with a drink. Speaking of drinks, the poolside service is solid, though it can get busy around 2-3 PM when everyone’s taking a break from the sun. I usually grabbed my spot early, around 9 AM, then wandered into Side proper for lunch at one of the local spots. Pro tip: there’s a little seafood place about ten minutes down the coast road that the hotel staff recommended — way better than anything touristy near the ruins.

The only real downside? It gets pretty packed during peak season (July-August), and the restaurant can feel a bit overwhelmed during dinner service. But honestly, with Side’s restaurant scene right there, you’re not exactly stuck for options. Plus, the hotel’s location on the quieter end of Gündoğdu means you can easily escape to explore without dealing with massive crowds. The staff genuinely seems to know the area well — they pointed me toward some hiking trails in the nearby hills that I never would’ve found otherwise. For a five-star place with an 8.0 rating, it delivers exactly what you’d expect without any unpleasant surprises. Sometimes that’s all you really need from a beach hotel.
