The Rivington Lodge
First Impressions
Honestly, The Rivington Lodge caught me off guard in the best possible way. Tucked away on Money Close Lane in Heysham, this four-star property feels like someone’s well-appointed country home rather than a typical hotel. The moment you pull up, there’s this immediate sense of calm — maybe it’s the way the building sits so naturally in its surroundings, or how the staff greet you like they’re genuinely happy you’ve arrived. You know what really sealed it for me though? The free parking right on site, which sounds small but actually makes everything so much more relaxed from the get-go.
Location & Setting
The location is something special, I mean really special. Heysham isn’t one of those places tourists accidentally stumble upon, but that’s exactly why it works so well. You’re close enough to Morecambe Bay to catch those incredible sunsets (seriously, bring your camera), yet far enough from the crowds to actually hear birds singing in the morning. Couples seem to get this — they consistently rate the location around 8.6, and I can see why. There’s something romantic about being tucked away like this, with easy access to coastal walks but also that sense of having discovered your own private corner of Lancashire.
The Accommodation
My room had this lovely balance of comfort and character that you don’t always find in boutique properties. The furnishings feel thoughtfully chosen rather than just ordered from a catalog, and there’s enough space to actually unpack and settle in properly. What I appreciated most was how quiet everything was — thick walls, good windows, the kind of peaceful atmosphere where you can actually sleep past 7 AM if you want to. The bathrooms are well-appointed without being flashy, and honestly, after a day exploring the coast, that’s exactly what you want.
Dining & Amenities
The restaurant focuses on local ingredients in a way that feels natural rather than forced — you’ll find Morecambe Bay shrimp and Lancashire cheese featuring prominently, but prepared with genuine skill. Breakfast is particularly good here, with proper attention paid to both the full English and lighter options. I actually found myself lingering over coffee longer than usual, partly because the dining room has these lovely views, but mostly because there was no rush, no pressure to vacate your table for the next seating.
Why Guests Love It
What keeps people coming back to The Rivington Lodge is that rare combination of professionalism and warmth. The staff remember your name, your preferences, little details that make you feel like a valued guest rather than just another booking. It’s the kind of place where you can disappear for a long weekend and actually feel refreshed when you leave — not exhausted from navigating crowds or dealing with impersonal service. The 8.4 rating reflects what I experienced: a property that consistently delivers on its promises without trying to be something it’s not.

It was a lovely caravan and very well equipped in a fantastic location with beautiful views
Louise
The location is good, in terms of amenities, off camp. i .e . There is a pub at the top of the lane that is both dog friendly and reasonable priced. The staff are very friendly ( The Duke of Rothesay). Right near half moon cafe where parking is very reasonable. If the weather is on your side, the beaches offer fabulous walks ... There are...

The lady k dealt with couldn’t do enough for us, went above and beyond with a late checkout on mother’s day and was happy to accommodate us for another night if needed.
Everything we needed was there and more! The caravan was impeccably clean. We stay here quite often and will never stay with anyone else it was brilliant.
Richard
Very clean and tidy and nicely presented, but it was very expensive for a caravan.

The location of the caravan was good, the beds were comfy, and it was clean. The park itself is lovely with direct access to the beach.
