HOTEL OVERVIEW

You know what caught me off guard about The Pastures Holiday Lodge? Walking up to this place, I honestly expected another cookie-cutter countryside hotel – but this spot in Tattershall has something completely different going on. It’s tucked away in the Lincolnshire countryside (postal code LN4 4LR if you’re GPS-dependent like me), and while they don’t bother with the whole star rating thing, their 9.2 guest rating actually makes sense once you spend a night here. The building itself has this sort of converted farmhouse vibe – not the fancy Instagram kind, but the type where you can tell real people actually live and work here. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward, no corporate script reading, just genuine folks who seem to know every guest by name within about five minutes.

What really sets this place apart is how it manages to feel both polished and unpretentious at the same time. The rooms – well, they’re more like individual retreats honestly – have this perfect mix of modern comfort without losing that authentic countryside character. I mean, you’ve got proper heating (crucial in Lincolnshire winters, trust me), decent Wi-Fi that actually works, and beds that don’t creak every time you move. But they’ve kept details like original stone walls and these gorgeous windows that frame the surrounding pastures perfectly. The morning light streaming in is something else entirely. Parking’s easy and right on-site, which is a blessing since you’re a bit off the main roads here – though that’s exactly why it stays so peaceful. Even during what I’d guess are their busier periods, I never felt crowded or rushed.

The location is what really makes this work though. Tattershall’s not exactly a tourist hotspot, but that’s the point – you’re close enough to Lincoln (about 30 minutes) when you want proper city amenities, but far enough out that you can actually hear yourself think. The village itself has that proper English countryside feel without being overly precious about it. There’s Tattershall Castle nearby if you’re into history, and the walking paths around the lodge are perfect for morning coffee or evening wind-downs. The surrounding farmland stretches out in every direction, which sounds boring but is actually incredibly restoring after city life. What impressed me most was how the staff seemed genuinely invested in making sure guests had what they needed – not in that forced hospitality way, but like they actually cared whether you enjoyed your stay. It’s the kind of place where you find yourself extending your visit by a day just because leaving feels premature.

The Caravan was excellent and met all my expectations with excellent facilities that were great for me. The only thing I found quite difficult was the key safe being so low down.
