The Elms, 6 Sleeper Trecco Bay Luxury Caravan Park

HOTEL OVERVIEW
You know what struck me first about The Elms? It’s not actually a hotel at all – it’s this beautifully appointed 6-sleeper caravan at Trecco Bay, but honestly, calling it a “caravan” feels like selling it short. I mean, when you think luxury caravan park, you’re probably not picturing what I found here. The whole setup sits right on Church Street in Newton, and while CF36 5NG might not ring any bells, you’re basically a stone’s throw from some of the best bits of the Welsh coast. The location’s one of those happy accidents where you get the seaside vibe without the chaos – Trecco Bay itself can get pretty hectic during peak season (think families everywhere and kids running around until late), but The Elms manages to feel like its own little bubble.
What really got me was how they’ve thought about the details. The interior doesn’t have that typical holiday park feel – you know, the slightly dated furniture and that weird chemical smell? Instead, it’s actually got character. The sleeping arrangements work well for families or groups, and there’s proper storage space, which sounds boring but trust me, after a few days of living out of suitcases, you’ll appreciate it. The kitchen’s got everything you’d actually want to use, not just the bare minimum. I spent a fair bit of time on the outdoor space too – there’s something nice about having your morning coffee outside when you can hear the sea but don’t have sand blowing into your face. The whole park’s got decent facilities, though I’d avoid the pool area on rainy days when everyone’s looking for indoor entertainment.
Here’s the thing about staying here – it’s got that boutique feel without the boutique price tag, which is probably why it’s sitting at an 8.5 rating. You’re close enough to Porthcawl (maybe 10 minutes by car) to hit the proper beaches and restaurants, but Newton itself has this quiet, almost forgotten seaside town charm. There’s a decent pub within walking distance, and the coastal path practically starts from your doorstep if you’re into that sort of thing. Parking’s not an issue, which is actually a big deal around here – anyone who’s tried to park in Porthcawl on a sunny weekend knows what I’m talking about. The only real downside? Well, it’s still a holiday park, so expect some noise from neighboring units, especially if you’re here during school holidays. But honestly, for what you get – the location, the quality of the accommodation, and that proper “home away from home” feeling – it’s pretty hard to beat. Just don’t expect room service or a concierge, obviously.
