Tasman Holiday Parks – Geelong
Honestly, when I first pulled into Tasman Holiday Parks on Barrabool Road, I wasn’t expecting much – I mean, it’s technically in Belmont, not right in Geelong proper, and the whole “holiday parks” thing made me think it might be a bit budget. But you know what? This place actually surprised me in the best way possible.
The location is actually pretty clever once you figure it out. You’re maybe ten minutes from central Geelong, which means you can easily hit up the waterfront or grab dinner on Pakington Street without dealing with city parking headaches. But here’s the thing most people don’t realize – you’re also ridiculously close to the Bellarine Peninsula, so if you want to day-trip to Queenscliff or the wineries around Bellarine, you’re perfectly positioned. I kept hearing the distant hum of traffic from the Princess Highway, but it wasn’t annoying – more like white noise that actually helped me sleep better (weird, I know). The staff at check-in were genuinely helpful too, not just going through the motions. They gave me actual local tips, like which mornings the farmers market in Geelong is worth hitting up and where to get decent coffee that isn’t tourist-priced.
What really won me over was how well-maintained everything felt. The facilities are clean without being sterile, and there’s this nice balance between having proper amenities and not feeling like you’re staying in some corporate chain. The grounds are spacious enough that you don’t feel cramped – there were families with kids running around, but it never felt chaotic or loud. I spent most evenings just wandering around the property, and there’s something really satisfying about a place that’s clearly been looked after by people who actually care. The whole setup works whether you’re road-tripping solo like I was, or if you’ve got the whole family in tow. Parking was never an issue, which – let’s be real – is half the battle when you’re exploring a new area with a car full of luggage. The only minor thing I’d mention is that if you’re someone who needs to be walking distance from nightlife, this isn’t your spot. But if you want a solid base for exploring Geelong and the surrounding area without paying city center prices, and you appreciate places that do the basics really well, this place hits that sweet spot perfectly.

Cabin is tired and needs a make over. Tree branches hitting tv antenna made a lot of noise

The location was a bit tucked away. The room was clean and tidy.

The bed was too small. The room smelt stale, indicating the room was not aired out for quite a while. Also no housekeeping during your stay. The heater controller turns the TV on
