HOTEL OVERVIEW

Look, I’ll be straight with you about the Sherwood Exclusive Lara – it’s one of those places that looks absolutely stunning in photos, and honestly? It pretty much delivers on that promise when you actually show up. The thing is, this stretch of Lara beach where it sits is basically Turkey’s answer to resort row, but the Sherwood manages to feel a bit more… I don’t know, refined? Less like a cruise ship that got stuck on land.

The location is actually perfect if you know the area – you’re right in that sweet spot in Kundu where you can walk to decent restaurants (there’s this little fish place about ten minutes down the beach that locals go to), but you’re far enough from the Antalya airport chaos that you won’t hear planes every five minutes. What really got me was how they’ve designed the pools and common areas – there are these quiet corners where you can actually read a book without someone’s kids doing cannonballs three feet away. The main pool gets pretty lively during the day, sure, but by evening it transforms into something almost elegant. The staff seems to genuinely know what they’re doing too, which isn’t always a given at these big resort properties. Check-in was smooth, none of that standing-around-for-an-hour nonsense.

Now, that 7.7 rating makes sense when you dig into the details. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed – I mean, the bathroom alone was bigger than some hotel rooms I’ve stayed in – but there are little things that keep it from being perfect. The WiFi can be spotty in some areas (though honestly, isn’t that kind of the point of a beach vacation?), and during peak season the restaurant service can slow down considerably. But here’s what they get right: the beach access is fantastic, the water is that incredible Mediterranean blue-green that makes you understand why people fight over this coastline, and the sunset views from the western-facing rooms are genuinely spectacular. You know what really impressed me though? The way they handle the evening atmosphere – there’s entertainment if you want it, but it doesn’t feel forced or overwhelmingly loud. You can actually have a conversation over dinner without shouting. If you’re looking for that balance between luxury and livability, where you feel pampered but not like you’re trapped in someone else’s idea of fun, the Sherwood really nails it.
