Sapphire Beach Holiday Park
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Sapphire Beach Holiday Park on Split Solitary Road, I wasn’t expecting much from a “holiday park.” But this place actually surprised me in the best way possible. It’s tucked right into one of those perfect Coffs Harbour spots where you can smell the salt air the moment you step out of your car, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering. You’re literally a few minutes’ walk from Sapphire Beach itself – not the main tourist strip that gets packed with families during school holidays, but the quieter northern end where locals actually go to surf in the mornings.
The facilities here are genuinely well-maintained, which you know isn’t always a given with holiday parks along this stretch of coast. I mean, the pool area gets busy around 3 PM when kids finish up at the beach, but early mornings? It’s practically yours. The cabins (well, they call them villas but they’re essentially upgraded cabins) are surprisingly spacious – I was expecting those cramped caravan park setups, but these actually have proper kitchens and decent air conditioning that doesn’t sound like a freight train. What really impressed me was how quiet it stays at night, considering you’re still close enough to walk into Coffs Harbour proper when you want some nightlife or decent coffee. The staff seem to actually enforce their quiet hours, which is refreshing if you’ve stayed at some of the other parks up the coast where it’s party central until 2 AM.
Here’s what you should know though – parking can get tight during peak season (basically December through February), so if you’re driving anything bigger than a standard sedan, call ahead and ask about spot sizes. Also, the camp store is pretty limited, so stock up on groceries at the big Woolworths on Pacific Highway before you arrive. But honestly? That’s minor stuff. The real draw here is that you get that proper beachside holiday feeling without paying resort prices, and you’re positioned perfectly for day trips – whether that’s up to the Solitary Islands for snorkeling or inland to the Dorrigo rainforest when the coast gets too crowded. It’s the kind of place where you’ll actually use the outdoor BBQ areas because the atmosphere just makes you want to, and where falling asleep to ocean sounds isn’t just marketing speak – it’s actually what happens.

The knives were not sharp. There was no shampoo. You could get extra soap if you stayed 7 days or more. The frying pan was not flat.

Right next to the beach, large and very clean swimming pool and the basketball 1/2 court added something extra for the children to enjoy.
Could be improved
The bunk beds had a plastic protector (which is fine) however they needed a topper on top as every time the children moved it was quite loud for them.
