Sandy Bay Holiday Park

Sandy Bay Holiday Park Overview
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Sandy Bay Holiday Park on Norman Road, I wasn’t expecting much. The name screams “family chaos,” and well, it sort of is, but in the best possible way. This place sits right in the heart of Busselton, maybe a five-minute walk from that famous jetty everyone raves about, and you know what? The 8.8 rating actually makes sense once you settle in.
The thing about Sandy Bay is that it’s got this relaxed, unpretentious vibe that works whether you’re traveling with kids or just want somewhere laid-back to crash. I mean, sure, there are plenty of families around – especially during school holidays when the pool area gets pretty lively – but the layout is smart enough that you can find quiet corners if that’s your thing. The accommodation itself is honestly better than I expected for a holiday park. Clean, functional, and they’ve clearly put some thought into the details. The beds are actually comfortable (not always a given at places like this), and there’s decent storage space, which matters when you’re staying more than a night or two.
What really won me over was the location, though. You’re literally walking distance from Busselton’s main strip – those cafes along Queen Street, the weekend markets, all that good stuff. But here’s the thing locals know: Norman Road is far enough back that you don’t get the tourist foot traffic and late-night noise from the foreshore bars. I slept surprisingly well, even on weekends. The staff seem to know their stuff too – they’ll point you toward the less crowded sections of beach or tell you which wineries are worth the drive down to Margaret River (about 45 minutes south, if you’re planning day trips). Parking’s never been an issue when I’ve stayed, and check-in is refreshingly straightforward – none of that endless paperwork some places throw at you. Honestly, if you’re looking for somewhere that feels more like a proper accommodation than your typical caravan park experience, but without the stuffiness of a resort, Sandy Bay hits that sweet spot pretty well.

Cosy and close to Busselton
What could be improved: Cold tap of shower needs washer changing. It was impossible for the women to turn it on. It needs the washer changing
Jason from Australia (March 8, 2025)
The cabin was super quiet and a 5 minute walk to the beach
Shelley from Australia (March 1, 2025)
It was functional, exceptionally clean, quiet and was dog friendly. It was wonderful being so close to the beach.
What could be improved: It was difficult to fill the kettle in the kitchen due to the short and immovable tap.
Paul from Netherlands (February 17, 2025)
Just so close to the beach. The cabin is clean.
What could be improved: We were in a weekend and lots of children were playing, no problem but when they run over our terrace...it is a bit annoying!
