This place sits in Saint Samson, which is basically Plougasnou’s quieter neighbor, and honestly, that’s exactly what you want when you’re trying to escape the summer crowds that pack the main Brittany beach towns.

The residence itself is one of those aparthotel setups that the French do really well – proper kitchenettes, enough space to actually unpack your stuff, and none of that cramped hotel room feeling. I stayed here in late September (perfect timing, by the way – still warm enough for the beach but the August madness was long gone), and the whole complex has this relaxed, almost residential vibe. The buildings blend into the landscape pretty naturally, which you’ll appreciate when you’re sitting on your balcony with morning coffee. Speaking of which, the local boulangerie is about a ten-minute walk down toward the village center – they do this incredible kouign-amann that’s worth the early morning trek.

What really makes this place work is the location. You’re close enough to the Côte de Granit Rose that you can easily day-trip to Ploumanac’h (those pink granite formations are genuinely spectacular, not just tourist hype), but you’re not dealing with the parking nightmare that comes with staying right in the thick of it. The nearest beach – Plage de Primel – is maybe fifteen minutes on foot through some pretty typical Breton countryside, all stone walls and wild hydrangeas. Fair warning though: it gets windy, like properly windy, so pack layers even in summer. The staff mentioned that the pool area can be a bit of a wind tunnel too, which explains why it wasn’t packed even on the nicer days.

The apartments themselves are… well, they’re solidly three-star. Nothing that’ll blow your mind, but everything works, the beds are decent, and there’s actually enough hot water for a proper shower after a day at the beach. I particularly appreciated having a real fridge – you can stock up at the Intermarché in Plougasnou town center and actually cook some of those amazing local ingredients instead of eating out every meal. The Wi-Fi was surprisingly reliable too, which matters if you’re trying to work remotely or just want to research your next day’s adventures without using all your data.

Honestly, this isn’t the kind of place you choose for the hotel experience itself – it’s more about having a comfortable, well-located base for exploring this part of Finistère. The 7.4 rating feels about right; it’s not going to wow you, but it does exactly what it promises without any major disappointments. If you’re planning to spend most of your time hiking the coastal paths, poking around the little fishing ports, or just enjoying that particular brand of dramatic Breton scenery, you’ll be perfectly happy here. Just don’t expect resort-style amenities or Instagram-worthy interiors – this is more about function over flash, which is exactly what makes it work.
