You’re far enough from the old walled city (maybe a 15-minute walk to Intra-Muros) that you don’t get the late-night bar crowds, but close enough that you can easily wander over for dinner without needing to drive or figure out parking, which honestly is a nightmare in the old town during summer. The beach at Sillon is basically right there too – you can hear the waves on windy days, and it’s perfect for those early morning walks before the families show up with their gear.

I’ll be straight with you – this isn’t a place that’s going to pamper you. The reception staff is friendly enough but pretty no-nonsense, very French in that efficient way. Check-in was quick, they handed me the keys and that was that. But there’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that doesn’t try too hard, you know? The grounds are actually pretty pleasant with these mature trees (I’m guessing those are the mauriers the place is named after), and there’s decent parking which – trust me on this – you’ll appreciate if you’re driving around Brittany. The whole complex has this sort of 1980s resort vibe that could feel dated, but somehow just feels… comfortable? Like staying at a friend’s family place. Plus, that 7.3 rating seems about right – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it won’t disappoint either. If you want to experience Saint Malo without paying old town prices and you prefer having your own space to cook and relax, this place actually makes a lot of sense.
