RAC Cable Beach Holiday Park
Look, I’ll be honest – when you first pull up to RAC Cable Beach Holiday Park, it doesn’t scream luxury. It’s basically a big holiday park sitting right where Cable Beach Road meets Murray Road, and from the outside it looks like, well, exactly what it is. But here’s the thing that caught me off guard: this place actually gets it right in ways that matter way more than fancy lobby chandeliers.
The location is genuinely brilliant, and I mean that in the most practical sense possible. You’re literally a few minutes’ walk from Cable Beach itself – not some distant cousin of Cable Beach, but the actual iconic stretch where everyone goes to watch those famous camel trains at sunset. The park sits in this sweet spot where you can walk to the beach without dealing with the crazy expensive beachfront accommodation prices. Plus, you’re close enough to Broome’s town center that grabbing dinner or supplies isn’t a whole expedition, but far enough out that you’re not dealing with street noise all night. The rooms are honestly pretty decent for a 3-star setup – nothing fancy, but clean and functional with that slightly outdated holiday park vibe that’s somehow comforting rather than depressing. What really impressed me was how well they’ve thought through the practical stuff. There’s actually decent parking (which matters more than you’d think in Broome during peak season), the check-in process was refreshingly straightforward, and the staff seemed to know their stuff about local timing – like when to hit the beach markets or avoid the tour bus crowds.
You know what really sells this place though? It’s got that laid-back Broome energy without trying too hard. The pool area gets busy during the day but quiets down nicely in the evenings, and there’s something really satisfying about being able to rinse off the red dirt and salt after a day exploring without feeling like you’re disturbing some pristine resort atmosphere. I stayed during the dry season when everything’s perfect weather-wise, and honestly, spending sunset time at Cable Beach then coming back to a comfortable, no-fuss base felt exactly right. It’s not trying to be something it’s not, which in Broome – where the whole vibe is about slowing down and appreciating the natural stuff – actually works perfectly. The 8.8 rating makes total sense when you realize this place delivers exactly what most people actually want: clean, comfortable, well-located accommodation without the premium you’d pay for unnecessary bells and whistles. Sometimes that’s honestly the best kind of find.
