Pyramid Holiday Park

Look, I’ve driven past Pyramid Holiday Park on Kennedy Drive probably a hundred times over the years, but actually staying there? That was a pleasant surprise. The place sits right in that sweet spot where Tweed Heads starts to feel less touristy – you know, past the main strip but still close enough that you can walk to Woolies or grab fish and chips without getting in the car.

The first thing that hits you is how well they’ve maintained everything. I mean, it’s called “Holiday Park” so you might expect something a bit more… rustic? But honestly, the cabins and facilities feel properly looked after. The pool area actually gets decent sun most of the day (trust me, I timed it), and there’s this laid-back vibe where families aren’t stressing about kids being too loud. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too – none of that resort-style rigmarole where they try to sell you seventeen add-ons before handing over your key.

What really won me over was the location, though it took me a day to fully appreciate it. You’re basically five minutes from the Tweed River if you fancy a morning walk, and the Coolangatta airport runs are dead easy from here – no fighting through the main tourist traffic on Wharf Street. The staff seem to genuinely know the area as well, which makes a difference when you’re asking about tide times or whether that storm’s actually going to hit. Parking’s never an issue (always a relief around here), and the whole place has this quietly efficient thing going on where everything just… works. It’s not flashy – you won’t be posting Instagram shots of the lobby – but sometimes that’s exactly what you want. Solid four-star comfort without the four-star attitude, and that 8.1 rating feels about right to me.
