When I first pulled up to Pendle View Lodge on Burnley Road, I honestly wasn’t expecting much — just another roadside accommodation. But you know what? This four-star place completely surprised me. Location & Surroundings

The location in Gisburn is actually brilliant if you want to escape without going completely off-grid. You’re right on the edge of the Forest of Bowland — an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty that most people overlook in favor of the Lake District. I mean, the Ribble Valley is right there, and you can walk to some incredible viewpoints without dealing with tourist crowds. The village itself is tiny but charming, and honestly, couples seem to get it — the feedback I keep hearing is that this spot just works for romantic getaways.

The Accommodation

My room had these large windows that frame Pendle Hill perfectly, and I spent way too much time just sitting there with my morning coffee. The furnishings feel thoughtfully chosen rather than just ordered from a hotel catalog — there’s a warmth here that you don’t always find in four-star places. The beds are properly comfortable (not too soft, not too firm), and the bathrooms are modern without being sterile. There’s also parking right outside, which might seem basic but trust me, after a long day exploring the countryside, you’ll appreciate not having to haul your gear across a car park.
