But this four-star property in Bettws-Evan turned out to be one of those pleasant surprises that makes you want to keep the location secret. The setting is properly Welsh countryside, with rolling hills stretching in every direction and that particular kind of quiet you only get when you’re genuinely away from everything. There’s free parking right on site, which might sound basic but trust me, after navigating those narrow Welsh lanes, you’ll appreciate having a guaranteed spot.

The Accommodation

My room was spacious and thoughtfully designed — not trying too hard to be trendy, just comfortable in that understated way that actually works. The windows frame the surrounding countryside perfectly, and I found myself just standing there with my morning coffee, watching the mist roll across the fields. You know what impressed me most? The nearest village has a decent pub (always important), and you’re within striking distance of both the Pembrokeshire coast and the Brecon Beacons if you fancy a day trip.
