Parque de Campismo Orbitur Evora
Parque de Campismo Orbitur Evora Overview
First Impressions
When I first pulled into Parque de Campismo Orbitur Evora, honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from a camping park — but this place completely changed my perspective. Set on the sprawling Herdade Esparragosa estate just outside Évora, this four-star property feels more like a nature resort than your typical campground. The grounds are immaculate, with mature trees providing natural shade and a sense of privacy that’s hard to find elsewhere. You know what really struck me? The way they’ve managed to blend modern amenities with the raw beauty of the Alentejo countryside.
Location and Setting
The location is actually brilliant — you’re close enough to Évora’s UNESCO World Heritage center to explore the Roman temple and bone chapel, but far enough out to feel completely disconnected from city life. I mean, there’s something magical about waking up to birdsong instead of traffic noise. The parking situation is refreshingly stress-free too, with plenty of space right on-site. Couples seem to get this place instinctively (they rate the location 8.1), and I can see why — there’s romance in those sunset walks through the estate’s olive groves.
Accommodation Options
What surprised me most was the variety of accommodation styles available. Whether you’re in a traditional camping pitch, a mobile home, or one of their more upscale units, each room or space feels thoughtfully designed. The mobile homes come with a proper kitchen setup, which is perfect when you want to prepare a simple meal with local ingredients from Évora’s Saturday market. The whole setup encourages that slower pace of life that the Alentejo region is famous for — you’ll find yourself lingering over morning coffee longer than usual.
Facilities and Amenities
The facilities here go well beyond what you’d expect from a camping park. There’s a decent swimming pool that becomes the social heart of the place during warmer months, and the on-site restaurant serves solid regional dishes (though I’d recommend venturing into Évora for dinner at least once). The staff genuinely seem to care about your experience — they’re quick with local recommendations and always ready to help sort out any issues. Recent guests have been rating the overall experience at 8.7, and after spending time here, that number makes complete sense.
Why Guests Love It
This place works because it strikes that perfect balance between comfort and authenticity. You’re not isolated from Portuguese culture — you’re immersed in it, but with all the conveniences that make a holiday actually relaxing. The Alentejo region can be scorching in summer, but the estate’s microclimate and those ancient trees create natural cooling that air conditioning just can’t match. It’s the kind of place where you arrive planning to use it as a base for sightseeing, but end up spending entire afternoons just reading under the cork oaks. For anyone wanting to experience rural Portugal without roughing it, this place delivers exactly what you didn’t know you were looking for.

Obitur is always a safe option. The camping got a nice swimming pool, very clean, with plenty of beach-chairs. Well-organised space. Family-orientated, and very safe.

Camping community and staff was very friendly and attentive. Access to the city is very easy ( bicycle roads are there all the way to the city centre ), at the reception you can order fresh bread every morning and there is a small grocery shop for your basic needs. The house we stayed was very clean and beds were comfy.
