HOTEL OVERVIEW

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first heard “ParkDean Cherry tree holiday park,” I was expecting something pretty basic. You know, standard holiday park vibes with tired caravans and screaming kids everywhere. But this place in Burgh Castle actually surprised me in the best way possible. It’s tucked away on Mill Road in Belton, and while it’s technically a holiday park, there’s something genuinely boutique about how they’ve done things here – no fancy star rating needed when you’re doing your own thing this well.

What really got me was the location itself. I mean, Burgh Castle isn’t exactly a household name, but that’s kind of the point. You’re literally staying next to the ruins of a Roman fort (seriously, actual Roman ruins just sitting there), and the whole area has this peaceful, slightly forgotten feel that’s perfect if you want to escape without going completely off-grid. The park sits right by the Broads, so you wake up to proper countryside views instead of staring at another hotel building. There’s something quite special about having your morning coffee while looking out over marshland where you can actually hear birds instead of traffic – though fair warning, it does get a bit boggy if it’s been raining, so pack accordingly.

The accommodations themselves are where they’ve really stepped up their game. Instead of the usual cookie-cutter holiday park setup, they’ve gone for this more thoughtful approach – each unit feels like someone actually considered what travelers want rather than just cramming in as many beds as possible. The check-in was refreshingly straightforward (none of that endless upselling you get at chain places), and honestly, the whole vibe feels more like staying at a friend’s well-appointed country place than a commercial holiday park. Parking’s easy, which matters more than you’d think when you’re hauling bags and supplies. The 8.3 rating makes perfect sense once you’re there – it’s not trying to be five-star fancy, but what it does, it does really well. You’re close enough to Great Yarmouth for day trips (maybe fifteen minutes by car), but far enough away that you’re not dealing with seaside crowds and chaos. Perfect spot if you want to explore the Norfolk Broads properly or just need somewhere genuinely peaceful to decompress.

I like that the owner had thought of nearly everything possible that holiday makers may have needed from towels, toiletries, cleaning, colouring pencils and books for kids, reading for adults, crockery for toddlers, travel cot, condiments and tea/coffee / sugar, ahh and little teddies placed on all beds, could not fault this place, It was cold...
