HOTEL OVERVIEW

You know what? MOONSTONE Lymington totally caught me off guard – and I mean that in the best way possible. When I first rolled up to Harts Holiday Park on Leysdown Road, I’ll be honest, I wasn’t expecting much. Holiday parks can be a bit hit-or-miss, right? But this place has somehow managed to carve out this genuinely cool boutique vibe that feels worlds away from your typical caravan park experience. The moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually thought about design here – not just thrown together some generic hotel furniture and called it a day.

What really gets me about this place is how they’ve nailed that tricky balance between being polished without feeling stuffy. The interiors have this modern coastal thing going on (which, let’s face it, could easily veer into cliché territory, but somehow doesn’t). I actually found myself just hanging out in the common areas longer than usual because they’re genuinely comfortable spaces. The staff seem to get it too – they’re helpful without being overly chatty, which I appreciate when I’m trying to figure out my day. And speaking of figuring out your day, Leysdown-on-Sea isn’t exactly a bustling metropolis, but that’s sort of the point. You’re a stone’s throw from the beach, and honestly, the whole area has this wonderfully unhurried feel that grows on you. I spent way more time than expected just walking along the coastline – there’s something about the light here, especially in the late afternoon, that makes you want to linger.

The thing that’ll probably surprise you most is how they’ve managed to create this boutique hotel experience without all the pretentious nonsense that sometimes comes with it. Sure, they don’t have an official star rating, but honestly? That 8.4 rating feels about right – maybe even conservative. The rooms are thoughtfully put together, everything works properly (you’d be amazed how rare that is), and there’s actual attention paid to details like decent lighting and comfortable beds. I mean, the shower pressure alone puts some four-star places I’ve stayed to shame. If you’re looking for that classic English seaside experience but with modern comfort levels, this is exactly what you want. It’s not trying to be London fancy – it’s trying to be the best version of what it actually is, and that authenticity comes through in everything from the way they’ve decorated the place to how they talk about the local area. Fair warning though – Leysdown can get pretty quiet in the off-season, so if you’re after constant action, maybe plan your visit for summer when there’s more happening around town.

Staying in a caravan was a lot of fun and a nice alternative to hotels. The caravan is very well-appointed and very clean too. Comfortable modern lounge with lots of seating and light, well equipped kitchen (and with all the basic amenities like salt, oil, tea etc.). Hot water and bathroom working well, a large shower which is not often the case in caravan. Comfy beds too with lots of pillows and linen. It was great to have table and chairs to enjoy eating outside on such a sunny weekend.
The caravan park is conveniently located close to the main street of Leysdown-on-sea (access to stores and delicious fish and ships, pubs) and walking distance to the beach. There are also lots of walks and trails to enjoy nature in the marshland a short drive away (Shellness or Elmley).
Very warm welcome at the caravan and excellent communication with friendly host. Thank you for all!

Heather met us with a warm welcome and the key. The caravan was spotless, the bedding smelt great, she gave us a few tips, showed us where the heating was etc, which was really useful and appreciated. Great start to a great weekend with my sisters. Thank you :-))
