The mobile home itself is pretty clever – air conditioning that actually works (trust me, you’ll need it in summer), sleeps four people comfortably, and has everything you need without feeling cramped. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night, even though you’re technically in a campsite. The Avenue du Monard location is perfect because you’re literally a five-minute bike ride to La Tremblade’s town center, where there’s this fantastic morning market on Tuesdays and Fridays. You know what’s great about La Tremblade? It’s not trying to be Saint-Tropez – it’s just this authentic Charente-Maritime fishing town where you can actually get decent oysters without paying tourist prices.

The camping facilities are where this place really shines though. There’s something refreshing about having access to a proper pool area and kids’ club when you want it, but then retreating to your own private space when the families get a bit… enthusiastic. I spent most evenings on the little terrace with a bottle of local Pineau des Charentes, watching people come and go. The beach at Ronce-les-Bains is about a ten-minute drive – not the most spectacular coastline in France, I’ll be honest, but perfect for long walks and surprisingly good for cycling if you’re into that. What really sold me on the area was discovering you can catch the ferry to Île d’Oléron right from nearby Boyardville. Nobody tells you this stuff in the official descriptions, but that ferry ride becomes this lovely little ritual if you’re staying more than a few days.

The only minor thing – and this is really nitpicking – is that the mobile home can feel a bit warm in the late afternoon even with the AC running, but open the windows around 7 PM and you get these amazing cross-breezes. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward, none of that hotel lobby performance, just practical people who clearly know what they’re doing. Parking’s never an issue, which is actually a huge relief if you’ve ever tried to navigate some of these coastal towns in peak season. This place hits that sweet spot where you feel like you’re properly on holiday without the pretense or the price tag that comes with traditional hotels in this part of France.
