The staff genuinely seem to know the area well, too. They’ll point you toward the good oyster spots (and trust me, you want to try the local oysters) or tell you when the causeway to Mersea Island gets busy with day-trippers. Parking’s straightforward, which is honestly a relief because I’ve stayed at coastal places where you’re circling for twenty minutes just to unload your bags.
