Mandalay Holiday Resort and Tourist Park Overview

Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of places around Busselton over the years, and Mandalay Holiday Resort honestly surprised me in the best way. You know how some places look great online but then you arrive and it’s just… meh? This isn’t one of those. The property sits right on Geographe Bay Road in Broadwater – which, if you’re not familiar with the area, is actually perfect because you’re close enough to Busselton’s town center (maybe 10 minutes by car) but far enough out that you’re not dealing with all the summer crowds and parking nightmares around the jetty.

What really got me was how they’ve managed to feel like a proper resort without being stuffy about it. I mean, it’s got that holiday park vibe where kids are running around having the time of their lives, but the facilities are genuinely nice – not just “nice for a caravan park” nice, you know? The pool area becomes this little hub in the evenings where families are grilling dinner and everyone’s chatting, which sounds chaotic but it’s actually pretty charming. The cabins themselves are well-maintained (I stayed in one of the two-bedroom ones) and honestly better equipped than some apartments I’ve rented – decent kitchen, proper shower pressure, and the air conditioning actually works, which you’ll appreciate if you’re there during one of those 35-degree February days.

Here’s the thing though – and this is why I keep recommending it to friends – the location gives you options. Geographe Bay Road puts you literally five minutes from some of the area’s best beaches that tourists never find because they’re all crowded around the main Busselton foreshore. There’s this little stretch near Broadwater where the kids can actually swim safely, and if you’re into fishing, well, you’re in the right spot. The staff seem to actually live in the area too, which makes a difference when you’re asking for recommendations – they’ll point you toward the good bakery in town, not just the touristy spots. Check-in was straightforward, parking’s never an issue (thank god), and the whole place has this relaxed energy that just makes you slow down a bit. It’s not fancy in a marble-lobby kind of way, but it’s the kind of place where you end up staying an extra night because you’re actually enjoying yourself instead of just ticking boxes on your itinerary.

What could be improved: A anti-slippery mattress in the shower cabin will be super helpful. It was impossible to wash my toddlers in it as it was super slippery for them.

I liked that the kids like the novelty of staying in a giant tent. The glamping section of the park was a lot less noisy than I feared it'd be. Also I liked how there was a radio playing constantly in the shared bathroom to cover the sound of the many silver-haired caravan owners colons exploding each morning. What could be improved: I don't like parks like this in general, to be honest, but that's a personal thing. I don't really understand them. As far as it went though, my kids seemed to have a good time and that's all that matters.

Great experience in the yurt, fab heater and aircon. We were near the toilet block so some noise and lights but was amazing!

What could be improved: Nothing.

Everything was absolutely perfect! Loved loved loved it! What could be improved: Everything was great, the only thing that I would suggest is the opening hours for the pool, to open earlier and close later especially in winter. And for the children’s playground for the bouncy castle to blow it up earlier than 8am as most of the children get up...

What could be improved: Everything was great, the only thing that I would suggest is the opening hours for the pool, to open earlier and close later especially in winter. And for the children’s playground for the bouncy castle to blow it up earlier than 8am as most of the children get up very early. But other than that I was more than satisfied!
